Title: DBV in-op
Post by: Neonkiss on February 09, 2010, 09:03:38 PM
I know this issue has been hashed around for a long time. I searched the site and could not find an answer that fits my problem.

I just got a Bally 4 reel 5500 Pro machine. It was not parts complete so I have never seen the DBV work before.
I got the machine up and running after installing the missing coin gear and programs. The machine will work fine on coin in.
My problem is the DBV will not attempt to take bills.

It powers up and cycles through. The faceplate turns green, but will not take in any bills.
Here is what I have done so far.
I installed a known good DBV 200 SH from another working Bally 5500 machine - No change. It won't work in the 4 reel machine
I installed a known good transport from a working 5500 - No change, still won't work.
I did a complete clear - No Change
I went to test mode (number 3) it won't take a bill in test.
I changed the MPU board with another known good working board. Still no luck.

I did not see anywhere in the set-up programing where you can disable/enable the DVB, but it's acting like is disabled.
This one has me stumped at this point. Any suggestions welcome. Even silly ones... :200-

On your board on JW3 is SW-5 ON & SW-6 OFF. If you make a change you wiill have to do a ram clear !

No, I have 5 off and 6 on
I tried it the other way, but no change.
I looked in my manual and it shows that 5 on and 6 off is for the DBV CBA (Canadian bill acceptor)

From my manual:
ON ON 00 No Acceptor
OFF ON 01 GPT / JCM DBV,IBA,SRA
ON OFF 02 JCM CBA
OFF OFF 03 Reserved

I did notice that the red led inside the head are not a steady red. It blinks off and on
Looked in my JCM Manual about the flashing leds and it only gives codes where it blinks a certin number of times depending on the head error code. This one just blinks off and on all the time. But the face plate is lit green.

In absence of a enable/disable do you perhaps need to simply set the denomination.

I messed around with this for two days before I posted here because I had no luck. :8-
I left the machine up and running and went in to get some dinner. Went back out to the shop and saw the red leds and the faceplate were both on. :91-
Inserted a bill and it works... :3- :3-
Not satisfied with it working, I dug around  to see what had changed. We'll I can't keep it from working now.
I powered down and back up and it still works.
Did another clear and it still works.

K+ to those that replied, I was hoping to post what fixed the problem.
All I can tell you is if you DBV doesn't work after two days of messing around with it, Post your problem here and then get some dinner. :167- :150- :168- :67-
Spaghetti worked for me. :194-
