Title: Ariocrat video slot help
Post by: CUDA3134 on February 11, 2010, 04:55:12 AM
I have a neighbor who bought a Aristocrat video Red White and Blue slot machine. I can not find the model number but it is from Australia has a video screen but plays like a 3 reel . The problem is it will not credit every quarter, sometimes it will credit 3 in a row then just allow 5 or more to go in the Hopper with no credit or maybe credit 1 or two then nothing very eratic. It uses a CC16 24  volt comparitor and two optics one for Hopper and one for overflow. It has a sticker on the tower that reads 1.00 AUS. i have cleaned the optics with water and a Q-tip and tr ed everything I can think of. Does anyone have an idea of what to do or know where I can buy optics. Just trying to help a 75 year old vet.

Hi

Red white and Blue is a IGT S+ reel theme. Strange having this on an Aristocrat in video? Could you post some pictures possibly its been heavily modified or its a DIY job. Normally with a problem like that the hardware (Ie the channel the coin is travelling down) is for a much larger coin and the coins passing the optics are not triggering them. I have also seen people jam the coin rake in the open position when the coin comparator starts failing ( This has the result that anything will be accepted but the comparator wont be sending a coin accepted pulse to the machines circuitry) On some machines the optics wont be enabled until this pulse is recieved from the comparator). Either way please post some pics so we can see exactly what it is you are dealing with.

I will try to get some pics up today. In the mean time I think you could be on to something the slot for the coin is just between 1/32 and 1/16 larger than the the quarter ,so it positively passes in front of the optics but, the comparitor has three wires connected to the optics. Ground, 24 volt and another I think might trigger the optics. Should I repace the comparitor ?

Hi

If it has not been bypassed (check if anything has been pushed under the "rake") then that wont be the problem and your initial suspect would be the optic. If you have a multimeter you can check the wires for continuity.

I have tried every thing I can to get it to register every coin.Secured the optics so they would not move around, replaced the plug on the comparitor, narrowed the coin path to be sure the quarter passes fully in front of the optics nothing works. It will  credit when it pleases. I finally got a picture. My neighbor also has two other aristocrat slot for parts one is a 10 cent FREE KICK the other is a .25 TAKE FIVE. Thanks
