Title: S2000 Top box Fan: Do I really need it? Post by: morspeed on February 20, 2010, 01:27:08 AM Hello All,
I was just wondering, seeing how I don't really have any components in my top box besides a florescent light fixture, is there any reason for the fan? I don't even have a florescent fixture over my reels because I replaced it with a cold cathode neon tubes that don't give off much heat. Is there really any other reason for the fan to be there. I don't see it ventilating much from the bottom anyhow as there is not many places for air to get through to the top box. Thanks, Tommy Title: Re: S2000 Top box Fan: Do I really need it? Post by: PWRSTROKE on February 20, 2010, 01:40:10 AM Yes tommy, You need it for a couple reasons. The first is if you have no fan in the top box on a generic s-2000 you will start to get burn in real bad on the top box glass back glass art coating and it will look like doo-doo. The second is it pulls the heat off the audio amp board which itself is in a heat sink (for a reason). Yes you need the fan. There are some other reasons but those cover the major ones. Hope that helps some. B.

That clears up a lot of doubts I was having about leaving the fans on. I got new ones and they are still loud. I figured I might be able to get away with not having them. Whenever you pull hear it is gonna make noise. Thanks, Tommy |
