Title: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: stayouttadabunker on February 23, 2010, 02:45:49 PM I was just fooling around with my button deck last night.
I was spurred by idesign's round buttons sale last month and picked a few round blank buttons. I snapped a photo of a DD symbols and stretched it out using a paint program to fit the lens caps! I think it looks awesome! And it really adds to the enjoyment of the game...!!! I hard wired it in parallel to the max bet button and find it a blast to play it like this! Here's a couple of short video clips of it in action!>>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUYp2w8VU5I (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUYp2w8VU5I) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeEVHqvxfzs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeEVHqvxfzs) Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: CaptainHappy on February 23, 2010, 06:41:45 PM I am pretty sure that it does have backlit reels in it, it is just hard to see in brighter light.

Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: stayouttadabunker on February 23, 2010, 07:11:34 PM oh, my camera is so junky :37-...I can't adjust the shutter on it... :8-
There's absolutely no options built into it for that. Our beloved Capt. was right on the money about the lighting upon the machine in that room... :89- It's very, very bright in my guest room in the morning where this machine's at. In fact, the two kittens like to lay on the carpet where the sun comes in...it's warm there. Anyways! lol ( I go off track in my own thread as well too :25- :30- :72-) I stopped the video at 55 seconds and hit the 3 "ctrl+alt+prt screen" buttons on my keyboard, pasted it in a paint.net program and cropped the bordering of the computer screen out around it to be able show ya the left DD lighting up! Now, if I could only get two more of those DD symbols to light up at the same time... :72- How does reduce one the hum in S2000's again? Resistor of some type soldered into the speaker wires? I forget...I have CRS... :96- ADD>> sorry, forgot to brush my hair - what's left of it... :200- Whew! scary looking in the morning huh? :149- :47- Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. the resistor method works best, some have used the pot method but eventually those will burn. Resistors will outlive both of us Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. I actually have some at home... :89- Gotta get out the soldering gun! :96- Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: StatFreak on February 24, 2010, 12:10:40 AM Bunker, that's a great looking machine, and I love your enthusiasm.. :3- :199- and your DD button! :89- (...although a nicely filled-out DD bra with would be better... :200- :97- :97-)
Now you knew that I would have to point out that the base jackpot of 2500 credits on a quarter machine is $625.00. So what's the deal with the $159 progressive? :103- :5- If I were your "customer", I'd cry :114- :208- :208- :208- Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: Foster on February 24, 2010, 03:12:48 AM Look at my S2000 picture in my profile
See the the BV bezel notice it is not yellow like most S+ and some S2000 are. It will show last bill inserted and if the DBV needs checked etc. I even put one on my S+ also works with the DBV-200. Post by: Foster on February 24, 2010, 03:20:48 AM You got it, there is a version that replaces the Yellow faceplate in the IGT style bezels.
I got lucky the S2000 had it, I had to get the S+ one from April. You leave the Lamps in place so the BV opening lights as well. I am still looking for the green/yellow opening for my DBV-200 that is same color as the S2000 Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. I would say drill a pilot hole, and then use a punch, so both? :97- :97- :97- Most of the punches require a pilot hole for the tool to go through anyway. I am guessing that you have a "VISION" about this upgrade!!! :200- :200- :200- :72- Get it??? :103- CH :95- Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. I have a bad feeling about this Foster... I'm so afraid that as you make even a small starter punch for the drill bit - you'll severely weaken the adhesion of the chrome plating around the punched area. Especially if the plate metal bends from the shock of the hammer striking the punch. Then it may further weaken as you drill it! The only way I can see a clean hole would be is to remove the button deck ( If possible) and block it up with a sturdy piece of wood from behind the punch strike area so the metal does NOT have a chance to bend... Ever see the chrome or paint flake off of a car bumper after it's been hit? Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: brichter on February 24, 2010, 03:06:57 PM Either way you run the risk of losing the chrome...
Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: Buzz on February 24, 2010, 05:10:24 PM I have drilled a lot of Peterbilt chrome bumpers to mount a license plate and never had one peel or flake later, but only drilling a 1/4" hole. Bunker you don't have to use a punch and a 2 pound hammer to mark the starting hole, with a small drill in a drill motor, place the drill where you want the hole and rotate the drill by hand, this will cut the metal enough so the drill will not walk around when you apply power to the drill motor. now you have a pilot hole the fun part begins, hole punch ( I have never used one so no comment ) large drill ( Please don't ) large drills and thin metal don't like each other, besides where would you get a drill and drill motor that large. ( my tool box ) another choice would be a hole saw, let me warn you the hole always seems to come out larger than what you wanted, so use a smaller saw and clean the hole up with a file. another choice would be drill a 1/2 or 3/4 " hole and make it larger with files Lot of work. I would say before any drilling remove all glass and like Bunker said you need to back up the door panel with a piece of wood and a couple of C clamps. Oh I forgot I have a Plasma torch. bring it over to me and I can cut it in about 10 seconds. ( not recommended )

I agree with Buzz though...get a brand new metal hole saw bit. ( an old dull one will only heat up the metal too much) Just big enough for the button body to slip through. ( an old dull one will only heat up the metal too much) Just big enough for the button body to slip through. NO us a size smaller, much easier to remove a little metal with a file than try to make the hole smaller :25- :25- :30- :30- Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: CaptainHappy on February 24, 2010, 09:04:30 PM Whenever I make sizeable holes in metal I use Greenlee hole punches... With these you drill a teeny (Like buzz suggested first with manual turns) pilot hole, and then use a bigger bit for a larger hole. Once you have a larger hole, you then use the Greenlee punch to get the hole size you desired. You can get these at Home Depot, or electrical contractors, or online. They have a drawstud, a punch and a die, and you use a ratchet to draw them together to puch the hole in the metal. I used these for all kinds of sizes and types of holes such as DB(, DB25, DB50, AC HOLE, SQUARES, RECTANGLES, HOLES, D RING HOLES, etc. They have a die for about everything!
I posted about it here before: http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=4314.msg36341#msg36341 (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=4314.msg36341#msg36341) CaptainHappy :95- Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: Foster on February 24, 2010, 09:13:02 PM What size is the hole for the buttons on the S2000?
I am thinking 3/4" or bit smaller but not sure. Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: Railroad94 on February 24, 2010, 09:16:44 PM If you had a gold door or looking for a 2 tone look :200- this one is ready to go.
Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: Foster on February 24, 2010, 10:23:03 PM Why is the knock out square or is that just a cover plate?
When all other player button holes are round. Using a gold one depends on the price. I would have to carefully remove the BV sign from my current deck. It is one of those that light up when the BV is enabled. between it and the sentry that area of door is constantly flashing. Title: Re: Fooling around with the S2000 button deck. Post by: OhioGaming on February 24, 2010, 10:40:17 PM It is a cover for the round hole.
