Title: S2000 Auto Play without using any relays
Post by: Foster on February 28, 2010, 07:30:55 AM
This does not require a relay and works
It should not harm your machine.

The reason it works is how the machine turns on the lights in the button and how the machine detects a switch closed.
Every light socket in the S2000 player buttons have a constant 13V DC applied to one contact in the socket.
It is the Red Wire going to light sockets.  we will be not using it.
The other contact is connected to ground through the I/O board components whichi is controlled by the MPU.
When you press a button you are grounding an input on the I/O controller which the MPU reads as switched is closed.
The Ground wire is black with red tracer.  we will not be use using it.

We are interest in the other 2 wires on the Max bet switch
Blue with brown tracer. is the input wire on the switch
Yellow with brown tracer is the wire that connects to ground when it wants to turn on the max bet lamp.

if you put a short jumper between the 2 and close the door and have credits on the machine it will play.
place a switch with wires in place of the jumper and you can control when it auto plays.

I Will study the S+ wiring to see if can de done in a similar way.

Disclaimer: I and NLG are not responsible for any damage to your machines.

OK Foster,
It's wayyyy toooo early and I haven't had my coffee yet.
However it appears that this would be using the triac on the board to carry the load??
Not sure what the rating of the triac is or what load is being applied. Maybe someone here can verify.

I did give you K+ for thinking outside the box. :244- :3-

You mean INside the box!  :30-  :72- :72- :72-
Good thinking Foster.  :131-  K+  I hope that the triac can serve; the idea is perfect in it's simplicity, as the best ideas always are. :89- :71-

All it is doing is using a light output (light goes on when that output is grounded) to ground the corresponding input.
Both from the Max Bet, which as the game is played the max bet light turns on when you can bet max credits and turns off as the game play starts.

A basic understanding of TTL output is helpful in understanding why it works.

I'd like to report that I tried it the way Foster suggested and it works like a charm! :89-
The only drawback is that when using the other 2 wires for the bulb, the light stays on continuously -
which really isn't important anyways since most homeowners have way
more than enough credits on their machines to even notice. :5-

It's been quite a while since I played or even thought of working with my
Max Bet Auto-play switch but Foster shed some new light into it! :89- :71-
For that, I must really applaud him for taking the time to think about it a bit
and come up with an excellent mod! :3- :3- :3- :3- :131-

Only add wires to the 2 wires needed and connect them to any SPST or SPDT switch
Do not change where they are plugged into the max bet switch or light.
That way the max bet light will operate normally.

That's a tremendously fantastic way better way to
make this Auto-Play switch than using a relay!  :131-

I love it!!! :89- Kudos + Plus to ya Foster!!!!!
Everybody reading this should give Foster a Kudos because
I really think that this is a fantastic breakthrough! :wa
Anyone that has ever made a switch like mine knows the difficulty level involved!
This is way, waay simpler! :89-  :244- :3- :244- :3-

Q , How to build a better mouse trap ?
A , I  read this post too fast and did not pay attention to details, .

Here is a great way to set this auto play up I found, by accident ....  I did almost like this thread says, but I connected the wires that are on my spin button, NOT the max bet button.  Here is what happens now, it auto plays, you can also still change the lines played and credits per line, and here is the BONUS...
Hold down the spin reels button and allow that spin to stop, then let go of the button, and it stops auto playing till you press either credits per line or the Max Bet button.

You don't have to play MAX credits , and you can also change coin denominations and line played too.  You can also use the button to hault play and add money , or put your game on hold while you answer the phone.

WOW, it works on my Mati Hari 3 reel vision, going to try this on some others later.
Please let me know if it works for you. Hit me K+ if you like, but the real credit should go to Foster , I just came across this modification by accident

I need to try it on my single line machine.
I hope I do not blow something up (not likely)

Did you try it on the single line yet ?  If it blows up, remember you warned yourself in the first post.
I rechecked the wires and they are yellow and the other is blue, both have a black stripe, could be brown ?.  One thing to point out here is that you need to still install a on/off switch between the two wires,  just in case you need to do any changing with a set chip or even change the volume of the sound for the speakers and such.  Someone I know (a really smart person) suggested putting the switch in the unused lock hole for the belly door.  I actually had a second max bet button in that hole so I could hit it from my couch.  Now , with auto play I will not need that any more.
I think we should start calling this the "Foster Auto Play method" .

Remember, my original idea was to use the handle
on my lazy boy recliner to activate the spins... :200-

Hi All

Busy testing visions and I noticed that one of them would re spin when the Spin was held in. On closer inspection found this setting.

3.7.1 - Game play spin repeat = Enabled. This is on SG000194 SW which is an international version. Curious if this in an option on standrd S2000's with Domestic bases. If so you can have this functionality without any mods.

I use SG000363 that option makes the spin button repeat the last bet and spin reels.
You have to press and release the button each time though.
I do not know what features SG000194 support. it would be interesting to find out.
iI like 363 because when I change games all I have to fix audio setting related to the MMLB2 board with DSV0042 (it goes back to S+ type sounds)
I was using 382 and had to always key chip after a game change to fix progressive setup, with 363 it leaves the progressive settinng as configured, eliminating the key chip (except when I had the spectrum II connected)
Depending on theme paytable I may have to modify the Cham II+ settings via a its software. Cham II+ maintains its own progressive settings independantly of the machine.

The method I use for auto-play works on the S2000 due to how TTL and CMOS logic work.

I found another solution get yourself a international Stepper Version Chip (VS) and you can hold down the max bet or spin reels button. Spin Reels makes the handle solenoid click though.
for those with the rremotes, configure the remote receiver so it will turn the relay on or off when you press the remote button.
