Title: MIKOHN manuals needed for the following...
Post by: Worldwide Gaming on March 02, 2010, 08:33:09 PM
I've got a couple more Mikohn projects and was hoping that someone has the manuals available for the following:

  • SUPERController  #341-009-20B
  • SCHAM MK2 LOG #341-009-45  (Is this just another flavor of a CON2?)
  • CON1 #321-004-70
  • LED4 #341-008-70c

Also, any info on the Machine Interface Board #321-003-50 would be helpful!

The CON1 hardware manual covers both the LED4, LED5 and Gateway units. These do not have separate manuals.

Thanks!!!   :131-

Still looking for a CON2 / Supercontroller manual!

Can anyone confirm that the SCHAM MK2 is just a version of a CON2?

The MarK2 Animation Display board is more of a
display driver board like a Supreme or CHAM44.

It needs a CON2 for communication between
the PSP computer program, the board as well as the slot machine.

I've sent you info on both!

So the Super Chameleon MK2 = MK2 Animation Display?  There's stickers all over inside this sign that say 'Super Chameleon'.  I'm also assuming that SCHAM = Super Chameleon

Yes...you're right on track Kar! :89-
In fact, I started a whole thread on it somewhere...
If I could only find the bloody thing.... :97-

This one should be interesting - 12 Cham44's, a MK2, 2 CON1's, & a CON2   :79-

You need a CON1 for every Cham.
Jay knows how to hook up extra CHAMM44's, I think,  to 1 CON1.
The CON2's can be used for the MK2 and Supremes.
I don't really know of a way to escape the dreaded "C1"
error code by NOT using a CON1.
I'm pretty sure the CON1's are required for keeping the
boards happy and to receive/send the progressive signals.
This may be true for S+'s but I'm not sure about S2000's or any other platform really.

I'm wondering if I can get away with no CON1's.

Say:

(1) CON2 --> (2) MK2's
(2) MK2's --> (12) LED4's (daisy chained)
(12) CHAM44 (LED4)  --> (12) Individual sign segments

The sign is two sides (each a mirror of the other) with each side in a 2x3 grid

Thoughts?

I could be wrong because I don't have them with me at the moment
but I think the CHAM44 displays are 20-pin ribbon cables
while the Mark2 Animation board has 10 or 14-pin ribbon cable headers?
I could be very wrong on this...

I'll know more this afternoon as I start really digging into it.  It's a mess at the moment and needs to be re-wired  :37-

The Cham44 displays are 20 pin and the MK2 are 10 pin. The displays look alike but are not interchangable. The displays marked cham44/led4 are for the cham44. The Mk2 displays will have cham2NEW/ mk2 on the sticker.

A single CON1 is designed to be hooked up to multiple displays.

I have:
3 x  S+  slots each with a Cham1/LED5,
1 x PE+ with a gateway so I can get the Jackpot displayed on the screen.
I x Cham44/LED4 driving a 1 x 2
1 x Cham44/LED4 drivign a 2 x 8

There are 8 pins on the display out but these can be daisy changed to manage more.

On the LED4 there is two round dials. You can use these to have it permanently display the Progressive 0,1,2 or 3 (without messages) or there is an option to display just the messages.

There are 2 messages one is JPOT.DO or MESS.DO the one I am referring to is MESS.DO ---- I believe that if you set it in this mode you will not get the C1 error but on all other modes you will.
I don't run mine in that manner so I am not sure if this is tied to just certain revs of code. I have 7.15, 7.21 and 7.22 - none of the Eproms are interchangeable between the Cham44's - there is likely a second chip that is required changed as well.

The only way to program messages however is through a CON1 so really for the cost of having a CON1 around why not leave it connected..... if your not using this for SLOT stuff then perhaps you can get a moving LED sign cheaper off ebay than wasting good gaming stuff that beliongs in my basement (LOL)

The Cham44's I had were different than the standard Cham44 - they did connect directly to the SCHAM/Animation controllers.  I was able to run a single CON2 to them and from there feed the 44's.  Everything programmed up nicely!

Could we see these? :128- :129- :184- :183-

I didn't snap any pics myself, but I know that Brad did with his camera.  Lemme see if I can get them....

SCHAM in the center (a second one on the other side)
CHAM44's mounted direct to each display
CON2 not in photos

The 44's were very different from other 44's I've worked with in the past - as far as connectors and form factor, but they did exactly what they were supposed to do!   :3-

Awesome!
The 6-pin header I've encircled in orange goes, as is, directly to
the CON2 6-pin header for PSP communications.
The harness is straight pinned...don't cross anything!

After quite a lot of re-wiring and replacing broken components on the 44's (lots of broken and/or fried CAP's and LED's) I got it all functioning late yesterday and it's already shipped and headed overseas!

Thats like no Cham44 I have ever seen.
The CHam44s I have only talk to the CON1.

That's all MarkII stuff, thats why it does not look like a cham44. Mark2 displayes with piggyback boards and driven by the large Mark2 display logic boards in center. None of it will work with a cham44 logic board.

The Cham44's were labeled as:  CHAM44DRVR (LED4)

Yes...Those are really neat displays...
they are the same display panels I believe for the larger 3x2's!
A member had them posted up on here last week...
They're pretty awesome! :89-
Those 3x2 chips are THE ones to go after !!!
3panels high x 2panels in length show animations so much better...
