Title: Code 41 reel 1 stops quickly - WORKING
Post by: rjpohl on March 09, 2010, 11:06:11 AM
When I first started the machine would not operate and we found several coins behind the power supply, removed coins and it then accepted coins and played, even paid off a time or two.  Then the first reel started stopping as soon as the handle is pulled (it probably doesn't rotate one symbol before locking in place).  At this time the 41 code appears.  I switched the connectors on reel 1 and 2 but this made no difference, reel 1 locked up as soon as handle was pulled.  I didn't see where the feel was rubbing against anything and all three reels spin freely.  I can post pictures tonight if needed.

thanks for any help.
Bob

Have you tried replacing reel one? Or just swapping connectors with reel 2? Sounds like motor on reel one is bad

Hi Bob

Try swapping out reel 1 with reel 2, if you have a bad reel 1 you will see reel 2 stop now with a reel fault code of 42,
if the trouble remains with reel 1, check the wiring harness all the way to the game board, make sure all the plugs are well seated
if that doesn't work try swapping out the game board, you may have a bad reel driver chip on board.
but make sure the reels are pushed right back and not touching the door, it doesn't take much to stop a reel.

Hi Bob,

This doesn't sound like an EM machine.  What model is it?

More nickles stuck behine the board on rear wall.  Removed the nickles and it's working great.

thanks

if the first reel is not spinning - lubricate the linkage - sounds like the release lever is sticking.

:212-  A code 41 and "switching the connectors" would suggest an IGT S+ stepper slot, but the symptom of reel one "locking up" as soon as the handle is pulled is a common EM issue.

Is this an S+ or a Bally EM? :103-
