Title: Commercials on Direct TV are making me sick Post by: Bobodude on March 10, 2010, 11:09:55 PM Commercials on sat TV are makng me so sick I have to take all this medicine to combat the illness. BUT WAIT. There is enough lawers advertizing for every aliment imagineable, I think I am covered no matter what. Oh, I forgot to tell you that the medicine I am taking has been linked to suicide, personality disorders, habitual slot machine craving and I think my wennie is going to fall off. Rest assured that Smackaloff is on the case. How about insurance? The little hottie "FLO" will take care of my every need and if she can't, the lizard will. Hold it, I think I am overweight. Nutrisystem to the rescue. I had to pause the video frame once just to read the fine print. "Results are not typical" What is this? How am I to know if my results will be un-typical after spending over $300 a month? Ya want to talk about false advertizment, just watch TV that is suppose to be regulated by, you know who, our friend the government. If you take a stopwatch and time the commercials, you will find approx 20 minutes of ads per hour. I thought pay TV was suppose to be commercial free? I think I am in another universe and I am being brainwashed every time I turn on the set. :103-

Used to be about 3 minutes per commercial segment, now I have seen some around 5 minutes. Also I am seeing alot more infomercials on at more times. Some are even on in the late afternoon on major networks. Everyone is cutting back slyly, be it TV providers, restaurants, etc. Has anyone noticed that a Half Gallon of Ice Cream costs the same or more, and it is in a smaller container and not a half gallon anymore!!! I finally gave in and got a DVR since they finally have the capability to set different start and end times on both the start and the finish times. I rarely see commercials much anymore that way. Actually I get pissed when I am watching live and I keep hitting the FF button on the remote and nothing happens! :58- :58- :58- CH :95- Title: Re: Commercials on Direct TV are making me sick Post by: Foster on March 11, 2010, 04:31:09 AM When commercials are on I read NLG and post as well

Foster, Funny thing is that I am posting on a commercial right now!!! That is after I picked up the remote, tried to fast forward, and cussed loudly! :208- :208- :208- CH :95- Title: Re: Commercials on Direct TV are making me sick Post by: StatFreak on March 11, 2010, 06:07:51 AM Simple solution: get rid of it. I canceled my satellite provider and haven't had access to television in over a year, and I don't really miss it. I watch DVDs and get news over the internet. I had a DVR prior to canceling the service and always recorded shows so that I could fast forward through the commercials. If something were live, I'd tune it in and wait 20 minutes to start watching. That way, I could skip the commercials and "catch up" by the time the program ended.
If I were to reactivate service, I would never do so without the use of a DVR to bypass commercials. Have you noticed that youtube is starting to force feed commercials now, like Hulu? Actual video -- not those annoying pop-ups. I just close the page. I've started using other services lately. The day that happens...bye bye! (yeah...right! :72- ) Title: Re: Commercials on Direct TV are making me sick Post by: Bobodude on March 11, 2010, 02:42:07 PM I forgot to include the infomercial in my original rant and yes, they are annoying and fulll of deception. Why is everything aimed at a price of $19.95? And the stupid one that has 2 payments of $10. They are targeting morons on most of these as they want you to believe "It has a total value of $100" for some plastic crap that probably cost them $1 to make in China. Do you notice it is the same guy with that "But wait" voice that you would reccognise anywhere? Who is that guy? Most of that stuff is junk and after you pay for the shipping, which is highly inflated, you have been ripped off for something that will not live up to its claims. Try and get your money back. That's a whole nother rant.
