Title: How do you document or collect your slot information? Post by: slot monkey on March 11, 2010, 11:49:26 PM I'm trying to decide what direction I want to take as far as how I document all my slot information and notes.
I have a hodge podge of different formats, electronic documents, printed pages, bookmarks etc. I might need a secretary to just manage my info for my slot addiction. What works best for anyone here, 3 ring book binders full of pages, all paper info scanned to electronic form? Other than printing on paper, how do you document all the good stuff here at NLG? Thanks for any replies. Title: Re: How do you document or collect your slot information? Post by: stayouttadabunker on March 12, 2010, 01:19:03 AM 2 hard drives works best for me!
Alphabetize all your folders starting with Anchor Coin, Bally, etc, etc, etc.all the way to Z. When you wanna find something...it's right there! All you have to do is use your Windows file search!...lol I try not to print anything..."save the forests" comes to mind. BS lol Anyways, get your self a cheap laptop and download what ever you need to carry over to your machine if you need to look at some type of a reference sheet such as a PSR chip sheet. Why print it? You'll have a bloody library if you did that! :96- Title: Re: How do you document or collect your slot information? Post by: slot monkey on March 15, 2010, 12:16:06 AM Bunker, that's the kind of stuff I'm looking for, thanks.
I just tried out an add-on for firefox that allows you to save tabs in MAFF or MHT. Here's the link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/212 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/212) It seems to work pretty slick. I was able to save to disk the complete 2 pages of one of your posts.......... http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=7052.msg63021;topicseen#new (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=7052.msg63021;topicseen#new) It saved it in one folder and at 724kb, which works for me. So no more printed pages for me, as per your suggestion. The other thing I wanted to add is, all the pics, text, and links are all kept intact. So this will be great when I don't have access to the internet, I will still be able to view any of the NLG pages that I save. Title: Re: How do you document or collect your slot information? Post by: stayouttadabunker on March 15, 2010, 01:14:26 AM That's awesome! :89-
I'm in somebody's "Library Of Slot Machine Reference Material" now!!! Great!!! :71- :89- :71- Title: Re: How do you document or collect your slot information? Post by: Super Joker on March 15, 2010, 02:17:26 PM I'm trying to convert most all my paper stuff to PDF, as I run across them. I've got the full version of Acrobat, which allows me to also be able to "print" anything I'm seeing or viewing to PDF.
Title: Re: How do you document or collect your slot information? Post by: reho33 on March 15, 2010, 03:32:02 PM If you have access to a Canon Image runner at work, this would be the way to go. It scans quick and you can save as .pdf. If you have 1000's of pages.

Yeah high speed scanners are great! I have access to a canon, so I have the paper to pdf covered. I will try saving any forum info with the maff files for the present. I was curious as to what software others are using to save their forum info. Super Joker - Does your version of acrobat allow you to do a text search? I would assume so, that is the only drawback for the firefox addon, no search function within the folder, only folder title. It's been awhile since I last checked into acrobat, I will check into it again. Thanks for both replies! Title: Re: How do you document or collect your slot information? Standard, pro or pro extended? thanks Title: Re: How do you document or collect your slot information? Most "web print" stuff is easily searchable, but you also have to make sure your OCR options are setup when creating the pdf, so that the text is recognized, and is thus searchable. For manual scans, whatever you're scanning needs to be of good quality. Scans of 'copies of copies' will be just a paper "book". I also have access to a non-color Minolta high speed copier/scanner, which like the Canon, is great for scanning loose pages or binders of info.

What browser do you use with acrobat 9 pro? Will Firefox work or is it tied to internet explorer only? I'll be shopping for acrobat in the next few days. Title: Re: How do you document or collect your slot information? Post by: Super Joker on March 16, 2010, 02:37:29 PM Thanks Super Joker What browser do you use with acrobat 9 pro? I used to run Chrome a lot (contrary to what you may read, every brower's Terms Of Service is very "invasive", it's not just Chrome). But I use Firefox and IE8 most all the time now with Window 7 Pro (I actually use IE for this site, seems to work great for me). I didn't have FF installed when I installed Acrobat, so it's not integrated into it. But Acrobat IS set up as a printer in the system, so it doesn't matter what you see, if you can print it, you can PDF it (just select Adobe PDF as the printer instead of your normal printer). I'm using firefox 3.6 / ie6 on one computer and firefox 3.6 / ie8 on the other. Glad to hear that it is set up as a printer in the system. All I have to do is pull the trigger and get the dang software...... haha |
