Title: Gold=Green Post by: PWRSTROKE on March 26, 2010, 12:24:42 AM Perhaps some here could answer this riddle. Gold= Green------- :5-. Yes there may pictures of gold bars and money but the riddle goes a little "deeper" than that. Good Luck And notice I said "some" as in senoir/older members here-not so much for newbies on this one. Title: Re: Gold=Green Post by: Foster on March 26, 2010, 12:49:28 AM The US currency used to be backed by gold and you could exchange your paper money for gold at a set value.
US did not allow gold prices to change like it is now. I am sure they made adjustments periodically. They also issued silver certificates in the 1920's. My wife did not want any rings so I bought a pair of decent watches.
I debated for a while between the stainless steel version and the ceramic and ended up with the ceramic version as the ladies looked more like a ladies than the steel version. The next week I was in Beijing and I picked up the stainless steel version (ok a reasonable fascilime) for about $20.00. A couple of weeks later the the guy that ran me around Fribourg and helped me get a good deal - not to mention the return of the VAT came to Calgary. I picked him up at the airport and he spots the stainless version on my arm. He said man you must be made of money. I kind of scoffed and said "ya I couldn't make up my mind so I picked up the stainless when I got home" Then I told him I didn't really like it as much, took it off and cuffed it on his arm. He said there is no way I can take this from you. I said I don't like it as much, can't return it, not going to wear it so I might as well give it to someone who appreciates it. All week he just kept going on about what a generous guy I am, and he really should not accept such a gift. I said think nothing of it..... about two weeks after he gets home he calls me up..... and he said he knew something was wrong after the back of the watch started to turn his arm green. He took it into a watch shop (and the swiss know their watches) and the shop guy was fooled as the back was even engraved with a serial number and was at a loss of why this was reacting with his arm. He took off the back and soon found out it was a fake. We both had a good chuckle. Thats my "Green" story..... That same thing happened to a ex girlfriend with a pair of cheap jeans. The back of the pin that holds the buckle together did that to her belly... Took a while to go away...
