Title: Conversion from $1 to $25 - Pinwheel needed?
Post by: Johnny K on March 26, 2010, 05:55:22 PM
Thinking about conversion from $1 to $25 on the S+ upright.

Assembling parts list...I understand I need the new comparitor & pigtail, coin head, shelf wheel, coin option guide and the $25 glass sticker.. BUT..  will the current pinwheel work?.. mine has the actual "pins".  Didn't know if that'll work or if I'll need one for smaller coins..

Thoughts?

Are you converting from $1 tokens to $25 tokens, or $1 tokens to $0.25 coins ("quarters")?

yes        your dollar pinwheel should work, it just spits them out at a faster rate,  check and see if the plastic part that holds the comparator in place is broken, there are four of them, you will need to reposition these, they will be at their full inward position, for Quarters you will have to pull them out to their full outward position.

repositioned for the new comparitor?  (think the current is a 33 something, and the new will be a 16D.. I learned that the dollar one is mounted with the coin facing into the door, so you can't see the coin.. and the 16D is mounted the reverse with the coin facing out, or so you can see it (as you are facing the back side of the door..).

Thanks for the input.

There sure are, and they are the granddaddy of tokens.

I have two lists of token sizes. They don't match, but are close enough to show the expected size ranges of the coins.
$25 seem to be between 1.840 and 1.875. (there is also a listing for a smaller 1.654 coin.)

Here's one:

    * 5¢: 0.896" X 0.080" (22.75mm X 2.03mm)
    * 10¢: 0.800" X 0.075" (20.32mm X 1.90mm)
    * 25¢: 0.984" X 0.072" (25mm X 1.83mm)
    * 50¢ 1.205" X 0.086" (30.60mm X 2.18mm)
    * $1.00: 1.469" X 0.102" (37.31mm X 2.59mm)
    * $2.00: 1.350" X 0.101" (34.29mm X 2.57mm)
    * $5.00: 1.750" X 0.125" (44.45mm X 3.17mm)
    * $10.00: 1.700" X 0.140" (43.18mm X 3.56mm)
    * $25.00: 1.840" X 0.100" (46.74mm X 2.54mm)
    * $25.00: 1.654" X 0.100" (42.01mm X 2.54mm)
    * $100.00: 1.600" X 0.092" (40.64mm X 2.34mm)
    * $500.00: 1.547" X 0.089" (39.30mm X 2.26mm)

And the other:
