I love my I-Game -  What I don't love is the time it takes to boot. 

I have accumulated a ton of credits and don't want to cash out every time I play. 

Here is the problem -  with credits in the machine the video display does not change and I'm afraid of burn in.    Do you think it's ok to put the LCD monitor on a separate switch??  - 

Then I can turn off the display when I'm not playing. 

Munch  I have read on here that you will not get burn in with a LCD.  :103- :103-

If that can be confirmed -  Well It will cheer me up.

I have had a Ceronix LCD in my WMS550 for two years and leave my machines on 24/7  There is absolutely no "Burn In' on my LCD.  Cant say the same for any of my CRTs. I checked Ceronix's website looking for a statement that flat out said no burn in on a LCD but I  could not find that exact phrase. See below that "Burn In' is not mentioned in the LCD warranty but is definitly "not covered" on the CRT.
Below is a quote from Ceronix website.

Warranty

CERONIX, Inc. offers a two-year (2) limited warranty on all of our CRT monitor assemblies and printed circuit board assemblies; and a four-year (4) limited warranty on all CERONIX, Inc. LCD Monitors.


When a CERONIX assembly falls outside of this warranty period, there is a "Flat Fee" repair cost of $45 per assembly with the following conditions:

LCD Repair: Cost excludes physical/mechanical damage to the LCD panel and Touch Screen

CRT Monitors: Cost excludes physical/mechanical damage to the CRT and Touch Screen. Additionally, "Burn In" of the CRT is not covered under warranty.

That's great news! -  Do you leave credits in your machine too??

Others say differantly, but I have had 15 inch LCD monitors with colorbars and text up on them for DAYS. These monitors are going on 5 years in continous service.
I do not shut them off, they run 24/7/365 (well OK they are off when were gone for a week on vacation). They pull a whopping 45 watts of power.
These are monitoring NBC/CBS/ABC/FOX news feeds directly from satellites.
I will repeat....
In FIVE years of continous service, with STATIC colorbars AND text up for hours/days at a time ZERO BURN-IN!!!

Yes I leave credits on all my machines. Did not think of it before but there is also an LCD in my Reel Touch  no burn in there either and that monitor is a heck of a lot older than the one I put in my 550.

Yes..it's the one parked at 127 degrees west on Ku band......
That RCVR is on a motorized 39" dish, the others are fixed.
I have 36"s looking at 72/87/91/97/101/103
RCVRS feed a matrix video/audio switch
Monitors are regular composite/S video from the switch
Hard drive recorders are Pioneer and they are driven by the RGB video ports.
None of this looks at DISH or DIRECTV, this is all backhaul or news truck feeds.
The RCVR looking at 72/AMC-6 is a primary NBC feeder, 4 muxed channels on that bird.
Another parks on the English feeder out of AlJazzera TV when not in use
The LCD monitors are CHEAP to operate, about 45 watts each,almost no heat.

JDK Munch - The IGame bootup is a bit of a pain. Bluebird is even worse and I heard the new one takes up to 15 minutes. Thats just stupid.
I have seen LCD with quite severe burn on one of our customers Bluebirds LCD's. I believe they use mostly Kristell. Have not really noticed it so much on IGT's.

If I have a choice i will always replace with Ceronix. I read somewhere that some LCD's have a built in function in SW where the entire screen is periodically shifted a few pixels left or right by the DA converter that help relieve the problem.

That's exactly the issue-   if the game doesn't have credits - (like it normally would in a casino)  it has a screen saver built in.  When there are credits in the machine it just sits there with absolutely no movement whatsoever.    The screen is brand new so I guess I shouldn't worry. 

From my experience with LCD monitors in stationary position especially with the
lines for the "buttons" on the side of Security monitors - I've seen severe burn-in develop
over the time of about 4 years.
These lines and boxes do not ever move and these security monitors are on at ALL TIMES.
Granted that they are just cheap Dell widescreen monitors and are
probably not top of the line now, but were very expensive when they were first purchased years ago..

I don't see any problem with having a power switch installed to the LCD screen where
it can be turned off any time your taking a break from the machine.
It would be the same thing as turning off my desk top screen that I'm using typing out this post.
Plus, the screen boots up to full color in microseconds as compared to my hard drive and operating system.

I'd just figure what wires control the power to the monitor and install a grounded switch to it.
It can even be installed on the rear of the machine where all you'd have to do is
reach around and flip it on like you would an arcade or pinball machine.

Someone please post pics of LCD screen "burn in".  I've never seen it, and it's supposedly one of the many advantages that LCDs have over CRTs.

They call it "image persistance".
Also, "ghosting imaging" it seems to happen more so on certain LCDs than others.

Well I'll be darned.  I'm glad I've never had a problem with it on my computer screens or games.  I don't normally have a static image on them for days either though.  K+ for the video.
