Title: Bally em Wattage?
Post by: SK8US on April 04, 2010, 07:32:47 PM
Hi there, I was wondering what the max wattage is on a Bally em? I have a export that has a deferant type of transformer to switch to 110 so I thought I would buy a up converter from 110 to 220 as the Sweden's use but need to know if a 300 watt would work. Thanks for your input.

why would you want to make it 220?  the transformer in the ballys are 110 or 220 depending on the wire jumpers - the earlier transformers you had to jump 2 terminals - the later bally just move the molex plug. the machines run on 110 the input is what is different 220 in for europe - steps down to 110.

Thats what I thought at first but looking at the transformer it is not like the regular transformers and the input is not right from the plug so without tracing one input I thought it may jus be as easy to upconvert?
I'll post a picture in a moment to show you and maybe you'll be able to help?
Thanks, Scott

The white is in the C the black is in the 110 and the white yellow is in the 220 and the others are in the 0, 6.9,  58.5 . And under is not adjustable other than whats screwed into the white front plug. Thats why I might use a upconverter?
If you need more info please ask. Thanks Scott

Maybe you should post a picture of your machine.
  :211-
I have a sneaking suspicion that this is a Games of Nevada Machine.
Not a Bally. Maybe you thought it was a Bally because of the wrapping on the coils?
Games of Nevada used Bally parts...

WoW,
Nice machine. Very unique.
I was suspecting it to be another manufacturer because of the pin connector on the side.

Looks like your going to have to get out that DVM and check the voltages.

I take it the 220V power comes in on the white-yellow. To change over to 110V, just move that wire to the same terminal as the black. At least you have a screw terminal block! I did a couple of imports where I had to get in and solder the transformer taps.

I was a little hesitant to change wires around so I bought a 300 W. up converter and it works great. 1 Krona is about the same size as a quarter so the hopper works fine but I did change the coin acceptor to a US quarter, again works great with no schematics needed.
Thanks for all your input.
I did use a 300 watt up converter with no problems so these must be under 300 watts.
