Title: Can't clear open door code 50 on a Bally E2000
Post by: Amachanic on April 05, 2010, 01:19:32 AM
Hello again. I have a new problem with my Bally Continental 4 reel slot machine. I have it up and running and paying out jackpots, but I'm unable to clear the code 50 on the display that says the doors open. I have checked both the hinge and lock switch's with a meter to see if they are working and they are. I have run every test in my manual and even tried the reset for the jackpot switch on the side of the machine, but I still have the code in the display. The code does not keep me from playing the slot machine, it just doesn't show how many coins have been played. The meter does show payouts for jackpots hit. What am I missing or not doing to clear this code? I have posted 2 pics, one just showing the code, and the second after a jackpot was paid..

That IS strange.  I've never seen anything like that with mine.  Usually the 50 goes away very shortly after the reels start spinning.  And when the first reel stops the number of coins played is shown.  I did try to play mine with the door lock ajar and it took coins, the handle pulled, the reels spun, then it tilted a second later.  That would indicate your door lock switch is not the problem, but don't know what would happen if the hing switch was flakey.  If you don't a have an intermittent wiring problem than maybe you have corrupted data in the RAM.  But like they say, don't look a gifted horse in the mouth if shes working.   :58-

BTW-  What is the model number of your continental?

From what I can tell since the Bally tag on the side of the cabinet is missing, is that this is a E 1216 6 11 model number. I took these numbers off the reel Assembly. The machine seems to be working correctly now. the only this I'm looking to replace on it is the belly glass. It has one there now that says Bally Gold. I want to fine one that says Continental. I've attached a pic of the machine

The 50 is door open - if the door switches are not working correctly the 50 code will not go away - the usual cause is the cherry switch mounted behind the bottom door hinge - if the door does not close the switch then meter will not change - best way to check if the switch is working - push the post of the switch inside the hinge and activate the coin switch on the door -keep the switch depressed pull the handle - win meter should change to 1 000.  The is also a switch at the door key - most of the time that switch is bypassed - if it is still there make sure the key cam - activates it when key is turned.

Nice old machine Amachanic.  Yup, the original belly glass would make it look really sharp.  I see the lower hopper panel is missing though, or you just have it removed.

Like Barry says- check that cherry switch.  And you said you did all the maintenance tests in the manual-  Did the door hinge and door lock Input Test work properly?

Cheers,
Mark
