Title: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 05, 2010, 08:26:42 PM Hi everyone! I'm back! I had to re-register. Not sure what happened to my account.
I have an older IGT White Diamonds S-plus slot. I had code 12 and replaced the battery. I can't get rid of code 61 even after it goes 61-1 and I reset it. I assume I have to use a clear chip. I have both the clear and set from my previous visits here. I don't remember what to do next. Thanks. Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Railroad94 on April 05, 2010, 10:35:46 PM If all fails the clear chip but you are getting a 61-1 which is good. Maybe just try a different SP chip number and if it clears just swap back.
Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 05, 2010, 10:50:15 PM Sorry, I can get thru the basics but not sure what you mean by a different SP chip number.
Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Railroad94 on April 05, 2010, 10:59:21 PM If your current sp is something like 1271 and you have another one, say a 731 from a different kit. Swap them and see if it clears and if that works, swap it back to original
Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: knagl on April 05, 2010, 11:06:16 PM A clear chip is really the last resort.
Once you have the 61-1, you must CLOSE THE DOOR, then turn the reset key to get past it. Make sure the door is securely closed with the latch all the way down so they optics line up. If you are bypassing the optics (you shouldn't be), you must put a working set of optics in the machine to clear a 61-1. Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 05, 2010, 11:19:27 PM The optics are in and I close the door all the way and turn the key once and the error code goes away but nothing happens with the game and the bill validator doesn't light up.
I try re-powering and the code 61 comes back. The machine has to sit for awhile before I can get the 61-1 to come up when hitting the reset button. Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: stayouttadabunker on April 06, 2010, 01:36:56 AM Have you tried just holding the white test button
for like four long seconds to get it to display "61-1"? Your CMOS chip isn't holding the memory very well... please check and see if you've soldered in the battery backwards? Also check to see if any solder is touching other nearby traces or points... I'm thinking something might be wrong with the soldering job. Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 06, 2010, 10:01:12 AM I've held the test button down for up to 10 seconds and nothing changes.
The battery is correct and has 3.62volts on the board. Next time I'll get the battery with the tabs already on it. :25- After trying everything again, I got a code 85. When I tried clearing it like code 61-1, it went away but code 61 came back. Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: stayouttadabunker on April 06, 2010, 11:24:01 AM Code "85" ??????? :129- :128- :103-
Get a clear chip... Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 06, 2010, 11:47:05 AM I can't find anything either on code 85.
I have the clear chip but I forget the sequence on how to use it. I know I replace it with on the other chips but not sure which and then what to do next. It's been over a year since I've done it. Remove Game prom. Install clear chip in Game prom socket. Turn on power - leave main door open. Press white test button. Let program run - observe display. When stopped, press white test button and run program again. When the clearing program is stopped, turn off main power. Remove clear chip and replace with Game prom. Turn on power. Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: stayouttadabunker on April 06, 2010, 01:00:59 PM You're welcome Budman...
Hey! Tell me exactly what you get after you perform the clear. You may get the [61], press test button once, then get a [61-1]. Close the door and briefly turn the reset key for a split second... The reels oughta do their "maiden spin" and ask for ya to "Insert Coins". Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 06, 2010, 02:18:10 PM It ran thru all the tests and 61 came back.
I cleared the 61-1 and now it says 65-1 Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Brianzz on April 06, 2010, 03:23:57 PM http://www.newlifegames.net/igterrors/ (http://www.newlifegames.net/igterrors/)
Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: stayouttadabunker on April 06, 2010, 05:42:54 PM [65-1]
Open the door, and press the test button. Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 06, 2010, 06:00:08 PM I cleared the 65-1 and the 61 came back and now it won't change to 61-1 when I push the test button.
Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: stayouttadabunker on April 06, 2010, 06:42:29 PM I'd try replacing the CMOS chip on the MPU.
If that doesn't work...the small C024 chip on the motherboard might have bitten the dust. Here's the other thing, Are your door optics good? Because the door needs to be closed for the reset key to wipe out the [61-1] code. But what's even worse is: you aren't allowed to get to even the the [61-1] now. I'm suspecting a possible bad MPU board. Do you have a spare board"? Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 06, 2010, 06:50:41 PM I don't have a spare board, just the clear and set chip.
Everything worked fine until the battery volts went too low. I'll look everything over real good and try the clear chip one more time. Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 06, 2010, 08:04:31 PM [65-1] IT WORKS!Open the door, and press the test button. For some reason the bill validator isn't working now. It humms and whirs and does it's thing but won't light up. Thanks for all your help. I'll print all this out so I don't have to ask again. Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: knagl on April 06, 2010, 08:23:08 PM Have you used your set chip to re-enable it? That's a necessary step after a clear to get the validator to work again.
Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 06, 2010, 08:37:08 PM I've never used my set chip before. I just bought it as a set from someone on this forum.
Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Railroad94 on April 06, 2010, 09:28:17 PM :244- good job. If the problem wont go away the first time, walk away and come back with a B.F.H. Bigger F Hammer :30-
Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: stayouttadabunker on April 06, 2010, 09:30:15 PM Now you gotta throw in your SET chip to "enable" the DBV...
Same procedure as the clear but this time you're using the SET. Can you tell me which set chip you have? I will have some instructions that will help you. -bunker Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 06, 2010, 09:58:43 PM All the chip says is SET 15.
It's a handwritten tag so I hope that's right. Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Ron (r273) on April 07, 2010, 12:29:12 AM All the chip says is SET 15. Thanks for all of your help once again. You guys are great! :151- Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: stayouttadabunker on April 07, 2010, 02:38:05 PM May I kindly ask?
What was the missing step in your clear/set procedure? For future reference for our readers... :89- Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: Budman on April 07, 2010, 02:54:33 PM I think the only thing missing was my lack of knowledge. :103- I had the materials but didn't know how to use them.
I was trying to clear things up after replacing the battery and was told to only use the clear chip as a last resort. You gave me step by step instructions on how to use the clear chip and that worked fine after clearing 61-1 but then I got a code 65-1 and wasn't sure what to do next. Once the 65-1 was cleared by simply pushing the reset button, all I had to do was use the SET 15 chip to get the bill validator working and followed the instructions in the link provided. I've only done this process once before on my video poker machine and it was a long time ago. Thanks again! Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: stayouttadabunker on April 07, 2010, 03:16:01 PM I think it's great that you gave a follow-up report because
it will ONLY help future members!! :89- Awesome! :3- :3- Title: Re: Need help with clear chip Post by: rickh on April 27, 2010, 06:45:53 PM Whew... I aint the only one going thru this problem :)
