I just finished my new custom slot stand, after doing some research for stands and seeing the ones I received from casinos I decided to build my own. This is a double slot stand it measures 52" wide by 22" tall by 17 1/2 deep. the sides and bottom are from 1/2 plywood with an mdf surface 1 side and the top and center divider are from 3/4 Birch plywood and the finish is chopped wood grain laminate with the doors from pre-finished  maple plywood The door hinges are from IGT belly doors cut down to size and the handles were left overs from another project. all of this material was stuff I had lying around, yes I just cant seem to throw any thing away.
The plans for the cabinet were from what I found on this site and modified to fit my needs

First I set up my table saw and pre cut all the pieces took about 1 hour Then I got out some wood glue and my finish nailer and assembled the cabinet that took also about 1 1/2 hours once that was done a little rough sanding and painted the inside black as well as some of the bottoms of the trim pieces, that way I didn't half to cut any 3/4 " strips of laminate and mess with them. once I had this part completed I went back to the table saw and rough cut all the laminate (about 1/4" larger than my cabinet) 1 sheet of 4' by 8' was enough for every thing except the doors but they were already pre finished plywood. as soon as the laminate was cut I got out my gallon of contact cement and first glued the back on then with my trim router trimmed that all up then I glued the sides on and the upright pieces on the front, once that was done I trimmed all that up with the router, and finally I glued the top and vertical pieces on the front and trimmed them up.

Once all the laminate (Formica) was all installed I took a flat finish file and knocked off all the corners (just a little) to take off the sharp edges. took about 2 1/2 hours for this stage.

Now I was ready to install the doors and handles and the magnetic latches so I measured the handle locations and drilled the holes then I installed the magnetic latches, by now things are looking pretty good, since I had a couple of slots like the ones at home here at the shop I set 2 of them on the cabinet and marked the power cord hole and 4 holes to bolt the machines down, removed the slot machines and drilled all the holes, I thought.

Now I was ready to take it home and set it in place, however once I got it home I noticed that I had forgotten to drill the holes to exit the power cords so got my drill out and drilled 3 more holes one in the lower back toe-kick, one up through the bottom and one in the center divider. now in the house with it.

moved my current 2 stands out of the way they were on wheels and set the new cabinet in place, transfered the machines over to it and ran the power and bolted them down.
I was surprised that this cabinet only weighed around 50 lbs.

So with  material I had laying around and about 6 hours of my time here are the pictures of the finished product:
I don't know if any one would be interested in these but I am planning on building some more double stands and some single ones with different color laminates on them.

How much space did you leave between the two games?  Does the 52" overall width leave you enough room to open the doors and work inside the machines?

There is just enough room 6" between them with 2" on the outside edges I was going to make it 56" but didn't have the room to fit it into, but with 6" between them the door just clears and there is room in-between them to set a drink.

I figured there was a reason you did not go 56"  6" between machines is good to know since I am trying to fit 10 IGames into a 21 foot space.

Good job Goldfinger. And good idea to make them double. I made mine single but I need another one so I am going
to make it a double. That way my next machine I won't have to make another one. And if I wanted my wife to know

Goldfinger, excellent looking double cabinet.  :89- :89- All ours are single cabinets and we bought them. I used to be really good with wood working until I had too many accidents with saws and stuff.  It turns out I don't have depth perception, not good when working with electric band saws and jigsaws and stuff.  :8-

Anyway, good job.  I'll be driving through the middle of July again and for my sisters wedding this time.  Since Dad's wheelchair is on its own carrier, that leave the bed of the truck empty.  Maybe I'll  have to stop by for a visit and 'check out' this double cabinet.  Hey, look over there - it's a UFO!!  Look look.... hehehe :30- :97- :72- :200- :96- :5-

"sometime a few inches can make all the difference" The difference between a shit head and a brown noser is depth perception.

I really like the idea of the wheels. Are these casters ? how big ? weight rating ? and are they additive to the height or inclusive.
I presume they are mostly hidden by the kick as they don't feature prominently in your pictures.

Last night, I called my wife into my room to help me move a machine...
She could see that I was having a hard time as my personal machine has
so much additional stuff in/on it that it weighs a bunch!
She said "Hold On!" and ran outta the room.
She came back and said "Push up on one side"...so I did and she slipped something underneath.
Then she said "Push up the other side" and she slid something else underneath that side.

Then she stood back and watched me push the whole machine
complete, on the cabinet stand,  over to the other side of the room.
It was like as if the bloody thing was on ice!
I was amazed considering we have thick, plush carpeting in there!

She put some kind of plastic-looking "sliders" underneath that she uses
to move the furniture around when vacuuming the carpet.
I have no idea what it is but it works!  :89-

They are teflon moving pads. They work great. However you still need to get them under your stand. In my case mine have legs so all the weight are on the 4 points. I was liking the caster idea so I could treat them like an Ikea shopping cart and spin the stand around anytime I want to get to the back etc.

here are some pics of a couple of new stands I just finished for a client, no partial board in these they weigh 41 lbs all MDO plywood and brown mahogany laminate. also am building some with slot glass in the door will post when closer to done,
and off to my newest project I have re-skined an S+ in diamond plate laminate with a chop top box, a 16" top box and a round top box all diamond plate laminate, watch the classified section it will be there for sale when I am finished.

oh ya almost forgot the casters are hidden under the toe kick section only adds 1/4 inch to the height any one wanting custom stands let me know they start at 125.00 each
