I never set up backlit reals before so I don't have any knowledge whatsoever on how to do this. I have a S2000 game that I don't really care for and it has backlit reels installed in it. I would like to take those out and install them into my other S2000 machine if that's possible. Can anybody explain how this is done? I was thinking about just putting them in but something tells me there's more to it then that and I don't want to screw anything up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes you can and it is painless unless it is a older Vision ready cabinet and then you will have to splice in some wires for power to the controller.
You will have to move the reels,reel harness,backlit controller which is mounted on the back wall of the cabinet,behind the hopper and to the right and the harness from the controller to the I/O board.

Somebody should have some pics or can take some later if needed.

Yes pictures would help. I have very little knowledge about these machines. I would hate to take out the wrong board and connect up wires that should not be connected. Thanks again everyone.

  I tried to swap reels from one machine to another and could not get the reels to fully seat. Took me forever to figure out there are a couple different sizes of locking tabs on the shelf and I think there were different connectors on the reels.   Take a reel from one machine and put it in the other to make sure it fits properly and locks into position. If not you will need to change out the shelf assembly in addition to the other parts outlined by Railroad94. You may want to take out the shelf anyway to give yourself more room to work inside the cabinet and the shelf is only held in by a few screws anyway so its not difficult.

This may be a silly question, but I will ask anyway.... Why not just change the game kit (Glass, Strips, Chips) between the two different machines?

While typing I may have one possible answer to my silly question... It could be that one machine is a Round Top and the other is a Chop Top or something like that??

The machine that has the backlit reels is a chop top and the one I want them in is a round top.

Like Railroad said .. you will have to move items with the reels .. but make sure the machine you are moving it to has the power supply connector for the backlit controller board .. it will be the top left connector on the backlit controller board in your current machine .. I am guessing you have a 3 reel machine.

You will find it mounted in the back of the machine possibly on a metal plate with a cover  and make sure you have the power plug in the machine harness like Ohio G. said.
