Title: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: lizzo54 on April 16, 2010, 10:59:34 PM I have a gameking with a 3902 board. I'm trying to change the displayed games but can't seem to access the privilege options menu. I have both a key 17 and 22 chips.
I did have a 3800 board in before and could access the menu with the 17 chip and key switch. The 22 chip allows me access to some items but won't bring up the game change option. Thanks, Lenny Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: cruisepl on April 17, 2010, 01:17:55 PM I have a gameking with a 3902 board. Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: rslots on April 17, 2010, 07:40:31 PM Do you have a physical key switch on the board tray? That is how I access privileged options. Don't need a chip if have that configuration. You just push the test button, turn the key and then enter the setup menu. Privileged options will then be displayed as the last selection at he.
Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: lizzo54 on April 17, 2010, 10:39:12 PM I do have a key switch. When used, I still don't get the privledge option and when I go under game options menu theres a foot note that I need a key chip to switch games. Ive tried the 17 and 22 but they don't seem to work for this.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: rslots on April 17, 2010, 11:22:08 PM Are you using the following sequence?
1) push the test button to enter the selection menu 2) turn the key switch 3) touch/select setup You have to get the sequence right or you will not get the privileged options menu. Otherwise, I guess you may need to chip it. Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: dumptrks on April 18, 2010, 12:53:58 AM OK...TIME FOR A STUPID QUESTION IS THE KEY CHIP THE KEYHOLE ON THE I/O BOARD?
Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: lizzo54 on April 18, 2010, 09:11:02 AM the key hole on the I/O board is the key switch. the key chip is an eprom chip that must be installed on the I/O board to reset memory and access different game options
Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: dumptrks on April 18, 2010, 12:55:19 PM Ok thanks where can someone buy this eprom chip? and is it easy to install? even for a noob like myself?
Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: dumptrks on April 30, 2010, 02:45:36 AM How hard are the keychips to install?
Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: kforeman on May 10, 2010, 05:35:15 PM what are your program numbers? the game program determines which keychip is required.
Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: dgrbrian on May 10, 2010, 06:42:35 PM With my experiene with these games you will have to Keychip the game in order to change what games are dispalyed or not. If you open the main door and press the white test switch on the MPU it will take you into the Service Menu. If this menu is Red it will be Keychip 17 if this menu is Blue it is Keychip 22.
When using keychip 17, install it in place of the base chip on the mpu. Boot up the machine until just 2 leds are lit on the front of the mpu. Switch the keychip back to the base chip. Restart game. Once game loads it will automatically go into the keychip menu. If using keychip 22, replace the base chip with keychip and reboot machine. The machine will load a menu allowing you to select ram clear, eprom clear and or keychip menu. Select keychip menu and when instructed, replace the base eprom and reboot machine. When machine loads it will go into the keychip menu. On the menu under setup it will allow you to change the game selection. Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: lizzo54 on May 11, 2010, 01:03:23 AM Hi, Thanks for the reply. I do have the blue screen and am using a Key22. I followed your instructions and the screens. When I rebot the machine with the base chip in place, it goes into the blue screen that says :EEPROM CRC Failure -OX10000001 across the top, there's the info grid in the middle with game date, versions etc.
Then says turn attendant switch key to update eeprom. When I do this it initializes the system and brings the game screen up. If I hit the white button to access the setup option, I touch setup-machine options-game selection- On the game selection screen theres 2 pages of games, the ones selected are yellowed. when I enter a games menu it has a box on the bottom that says Key Chip required to change game. Ive tried this several times and still the same outcome so I am at a loss. Am I going to the wrong section? Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: kforeman on May 11, 2010, 01:21:38 AM sounds to me like you may have an e-squared issue that is keeping the game from actually entering the keychip mode. from the normal game mode opening the door and pressing the white button on the mpu accesses the operator menu. there are some things that can be changed in this menu but game selection, denom, par, and a few other high security settings can only be changed when in keychip mode. btw the blue screen with the info is called the callstack and provides all the info for the game and the error that an IGT software engineer would need to help troubleshoot...maybe you can call one of them!! :97-
do you have another e-squared chip or motherboard to try? it is found at location U2 on the motherboard, aka backplane. if you provide your software we can verify that you are using the correct keychip as well. good luck. :50- Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: fanninislots on May 11, 2010, 01:43:49 AM Lenny,
What base chip are you using? Ben Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: dgrbrian on May 11, 2010, 01:44:13 AM don't select the ram clear options only the keychip option.
Have you checked the battery? Besides the eprom mentioned above, if your battery is bad it won't hold the settings from the ram clear Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: knagl on May 11, 2010, 02:43:32 AM On my machine, if I only choose the Keychip option (and not the RAM clear with it), I can't access the options -- I get the same "Keychip required" messages. If I DO tell it to clear the RAM and perform the Keychip, then it loses all of my settings (expected with a RAM clear), but it does allow me to do keychip stuff.
Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: dgrbrian on May 11, 2010, 01:10:42 PM I would change your MPU or backplane then, start with the prom on the backplane.
Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: fanninislots on May 11, 2010, 01:16:09 PM Lenny,
Some base chips will not work in a 3902 board. Ben Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: lizzo54 on May 11, 2010, 10:55:05 PM Hi, First thing Thanks again for all the responses!
I just put the multimeter to the battery and the volt is reading 1.7. So i guess that's a possibility. It will take me a week or so to replace since its soldered onto the board. As far as the base chip, its M0000176 7/21/98. The gme chips are G0000233, PKL2 chips are C0000235 and the CG! chips are C0000235. The stupid game I want to play on this is caveman keno. Can one of you tell me if this base chip works with the 3902 board? While I'm at it, does anyone have a sound board for this forsale? Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! I have the sound board your looking for it's $50.00 plus $6.00 shipping. Ben Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: tacman on May 12, 2010, 10:47:45 AM Since this is an all eprom based game, it would take the first MMLB board and not the Simm card MMLB II.
Dan (tacman) Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: knagl on May 12, 2010, 05:45:33 PM Does anyone know if that set supports multi-denom? My set is multi-denom but is missing the On The Prowl slot.
...or can anyone tell me if On The Prowl isn't really exciting and not worth changing chips for? Most of the GK slots are pretty so-so in my opinion, although I do like Double Bucks. Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: kforeman on May 13, 2010, 12:12:15 AM here's the excerpt from the psr regarding denom:
Denomination This version accepts $0.05, $0.10, $0.25, $0.50, $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $25, $50, $100, $500, and blank denominations. If set to blank, the game disables both the bill validator and progressive capabilities. If there are no credits accumulated, access the Key Chip Menu and touch Game Denom Setup. the psr is dated november 24, 1998 so multi-denom capabilities were probably not much more than in the development stage. :79- i haven't seen on the prowl personally so i can't offer an opinion on whether it would be worth changing programs to get but like you stated, GK video slots are only slightly fun at best... :71- Title: Re: Gameking game change help!!! Post by: knagl on May 13, 2010, 03:43:23 AM Hmm. Mine has $0.01 and $0.02 (and I don't think it can do $500 or even $100 denom).
Thanks for the info. Hopefully someone else here can offer an opinion about On The Prowl, but I kinda doubt it'd be worth changing my setup for it. |
