Title: S2000 - what are these components used for?
Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on April 27, 2010, 03:21:22 PM
Have a S2000 reel slot that had issues with not clearing the MB Door Open error - so I got another cpu - which works without the items I am about to ask about.   First there is a "daughter board?" on the right side of the picture PN 76924401  says MULTIMEDIA LITE.
2nd there are ICs at U18 and U45?   what are all these items used for since board seems to work without them?

The daughter card is for enhanced sound.  Depending on your game theme you can add a sound simm to it, theme based, and enable enhanced sound within the menu.  If your not going to use it...take it out and list if for $40 buck on Ebay and make some change.

The proms at U18 and 45, I could be wrong, but I believe they store active memory, i.e., play history and settings.  For sure let that sleeping dog lie...they need to be there.

Check the voltage on the battery on your "bad" board.  Likely why you are getting the MB error....should not be less than 2.9v.

Another note...I have found many times that these boards to not fully clear after the first try and result in some strange errors.  I automatically clear each board that comes straight from the casino 3 times with a 97 clear chip.

I can't quite see the number on your sound simm...is that a 42?  If so that's a generic sound simm and it is and is good for many game themes.  What's the game title for this machine?

[changed from a TRIPLE 7 to Double diamond - like a said - the replacement board works?  only have sound out of 1 speaker - haven't checked that yet.  On the original board I removed the battery.  worked for awhile then back to the MB door open error.  Did NOT do a clear on that board (the one pictured).  where is the Sound SIMM?

It's the one that kind of looks like a memory card inside your desktop computer....>>>

Oh, by the way, error codes "stack" up on S2000's....
You usually have to open and close the door to erase each error individually.

The sound simm is to the right on the daughter card.  Sticker on it reads DSV000042 on it....it's already installed.  For sure a game like Double Diamond will use enhanced sound.  If you open the door, press the test button on the board, go thru the menu to Options, Sound, and work your way down to the various sound settings (like spin sound, roll-up sound, hand pay sound) and change it to "MLB2 enhanced sound preferred"...you will get the enhanced sound to work....and I bet you right now you will get sound out of both of your speakers after you do that.

On your original board you say you "removed" the battery.  If you are talking about the green one in back that is good (and leave it off)....but after you do that you need to do a full clear with a 97 (I suggest 3 times).

Got it - it is a 42.  I did remove the green battery -  will do the clear on the board shown 1st - the MB Door open would not go away - tried opening closing the door - thats why I bought another board.  LA SLOTS was selling them for $40 with back lit strips.   Appreciate all the knowledge passed along - hope others will benefit.  This is my first and last s2000 -  I like the S+ better.

Well the S+ machine is a simpler machine to work on....but once you educate yourself on the S2000 you will find you love it for all features it adds like enhanced sound, back lit reels, multi-denom, touch-screens, and an easy menu system for set up.  Check back in a few months and then tell us how you feel.   :96-

Well,
It's always good to try to help others.
For me, it re-enforces my mind to remember everything as I suffer tremendously from CRS.... :72-

I have a quick question ( somewhat related here)
What does the "DSV" on the Simm sound cards stand for?

Fox,
I think Bettor slots meant that the S2000 is a gaming machine platform
that is capable of all the above mentioned options!  :89-
There are many games in the S2000 platform that have touchscreens,
LCD screens, and multi-denomination buttons along with the 3 reels!

well - I took the parts off my bad board - the daughter board - the U44 U19 and the U46 - did a CLEAR - did a KEY17   got ram error - kept on turning the reset key - got to the hold test button 3 secs and voila got the KEY set screen - then I got lost - got to set denomination but no matter what button I used couldn't get any further.  after hitting max bet - the machine reset - closed the door and now I get "machine type mismatch'  "closure M"   man these 2000s are hard to figure.  1st question is what is wrong - second how am I supposed to get thru the SET instructions - namely NO PRINTER - YES HOPPER etc and set denomination.  what step am I missing?  thanks.

You were there but you backed out of the settings by hitting the max bet button.

Think of the menus as a chapter, a paragraph, a sentence, and words.

For example, the first chapter is 1). Accounting
Hit the "Spin" button a couple of times gets you into the 3rd chapter called 3). Options
There are 7 chapters :
1). Accounting
2). History Displays
3). Options
4). I/O Tests
5). Game Tests
6). Out Of Service Mode
7). Key Chip Config

There are 11 paragraphs in the machine options.
Notice the 3 matches the "3" in "Options".>>>
3.1.1 Credit Option
3.1.2 Candles
3.1.3 Set Time
3.1.4 Limits
3.1.5 Partial Pay
3.1.6 Handpay Display
3.1.7 Player Cashout Menu
3.1.8 W2-G Setup
3.1.9 Machine Serial Number
3.1.10 Printer
3.1.11 Split Pay

3.2 Sound Options
There are 6 paragraphs in the sound options.
3.2.1 Volume Control/Game Volume
3.2.2 Reel Spin Sound
3.2.3 Reel Stop Sound
3.2.4 Mechanical Bell
3.2.5 Roll up Tones
3.2.6 Multimedia

And there's a bunch of paragraphs  in here too:
3.3 Bill Acceptor
3.3.1 Enable/disable
3.3.2 Bill Pay Mode
etc,etc,etc...

Now each one of these paragraphs has sentences ( more settings)
Let's go back to the top one^^^

Pressing the "Spin" button 2 times gets you into the 3rd chapter 3.Options
Now, pressing the "Spin" button again gets you into the first paragraph 3.1 Machine Options
Pressing the "Spin" button again gets you into the first sentence>> 3.1.1 Credit option
There's  four words (settings) in here>>>
"Credit",
"NonCredit",
Player Initiated Credit",
and "Player Initiated Noncredit" settings.
You navigate through these settings using
the "Service/Change" button and the "Cash Credit" button.

When you want to back out of a sentence, paragraph, or chapter -
you hit the Max Bet button.
It's a lot easier to do it over the phone with someone or just to
have a sheet with all this stuff in front of you.
Basically, when you use the SET chip and the machine boots up after re-installing the Base chip,
it opens the door to the 7th chapter (7). Key Chip Config.) so you
can change the settings in there.

Have fun!

interesting but I was in the KEY Set - menu 7.1.   I was trying to 1. disable the ticket printer - 2. set denomination 3. activate the bv  4. activate the hopper.    how do you get into 3?  test button like the s+

Use the
Spin" button to get into the menus.
"Cash/Credit" AND/OR "Change" buttons to switch pages.
"Max" button to get out.
You only use the "Reset" key when the machine tells you to.
You don't use the test button at all hardly, except to GET INTO the menus in the beginning.

thought that I was doing that - got into denomination - using the change button got it to go from 5000 to 25c - if i pushed the service button it would backup - spin would go back to denomination - couldn't get past the denomination unless I pressed the MAX button and that ended everything.

When using the SET chip and in the 7). options, don't back up too far with the "Max" bet button
or it knocks you completely out of the settings and you have to use the SET chip to get back in again.
Use the "Max" bet button very carefully - like one press of it and
check with the "Cash/Credit" button or "Change" button to see if you can flip through
the chapters or paragraphs (options) pages.

THANK YOU ALL!!!!! I have a running machine and a good spare board - PHEW - what a complicated procedure - followed the KEY instructions - which did not match the options on the screen - didn 't understand what most of them are - but the key ones DENOM - GAME TYPE etc - so the BV works - the ticket dispenser - NOT - Hopper - works.  SOUND - works.   FOR HOW LONG?
