Title: S2000/barcrest Money Mad Martians
Post by: cowboygames on April 29, 2010, 07:43:50 PM
Hi guys, I've got a problem with this game where after it warms up a bit(say 45 minutes) it starts doing a funky light show in the top box. Starts out slow with little groups of lights turning on and off, including the LEDs that show how much you've been offered on a bonus round, and progresses rapidly to where a lot of lights are flashing and the win meter in the top box is completely lit up. If I turn the game off for a little while it will be fine again when I turn it on. This machine has 2 300w power supplies(topbox and main)  and I've swapped them and same thing happens. Maybe low battery on MPU? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Possible top box "module" concern.  Module being your whole swing-out door with leds and your board mounted on back.  This was an older release and works a little diff. than the ones I have as you have no aux vfd etc. on that game.  There was some issues simular on red-hottie and it was a surface mount chip/resistor on the module heating up after time.  Igt's fix was at the time to replace the WHOLE module and added a strategically placed FAN in a field service repair to correct the issue.  Not saying that is your problem but it may be in your module.  Is this something you built or bought already complete-?.  B.

bought this complete, was wondering about that game panel. I grab a can of freeze spray and do some localized freezing when it acts up and see if I can pinpoint a problem. I did notice that the power supply started acting up in the lower part of the game after swapping them. Namely the ticket printer came up with a hardware error tonight till I swapped them back, then it was fine. So might be the power supply yet. Thanks for the tip, I'll do some more research.
