Title: S2000 netplex error
Post by: cowboygames on May 03, 2010, 08:27:56 PM
Hi guys, I've got an s2000 that"s been working well for about 6 months, then I transported it :8- After plugging it in it comes up on the display with a netplex display no communication. Display plug seemed to be loose on the ribbon cable that goes to the io board so I pushed it an all other display board plugs to make sure they were seated. Checked power supply to make sure it hadn"t been jarred loose also. Still have display netplex error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help :131-

Have you tried re-seating the MPU board?  I'd give that a shot, along with re-seating the power supply.  I know you said the power supply didn't appear to be jarred loose, but it still may not be fully seated if you didn't re-seat it.

I'll give that a try, I was heading out the door for work and didn't have a lot of time to mess with it. Tomorrow's another day, thank God for that!

This is almost always a bad power supply. The power supply is missing +5V on pin number 7 and will cause this error. This is the power supply behind the reels.
Hope this helps.

I fix my netplex errors by doing a ram clear and it always seems to work after that, when the machine boots up again it does an auto detect of netplex devices.

Cowboygames

Dont know your level of experience - Just to be sure when you say power supply you are talking about the box behind the reels?. Sometime the power distribution assembly is mistaken for the power supply.

Ashyron

You can do a netplex auto config from the diagnostic menu - saves going through the ram clear process.
You can aslo see if netplex devices are talking and what SW version is installed.

Sometimes when I try that, I get a message that tells me
the "The Netplex is Down" after I follow the instructions to hit the "Spin" button.
What is going on there?
Nothing seems to happen... so I hit the "Max" bet button and
back out of the menus into game play.

I don't understand that test really. :129- :128-

Got it, thanks for the help guys! :244- It was a combination of power suplly and mpu being jarred loose during transport. :30- For future referance, I have a key 17 chip. Do I need a differant one for a full ram clear?

Glad you got it.  For a full RAM clear you will need a 97 clear chip.
