Title: Before I fry my machine...... Post by: Neonkiss on May 10, 2010, 03:30:15 PM I only wish that my electrical experience was better than it currently is.
I knew I should have paid more attention in high school electronics class. Here is my problem. I have some Bally Gamemakers that were set up for use as 220V machines. I need to convert them to use 110V. This is a simple fix by using the correct transformer (E-122-223) My problem appears to be that I can not locate any of those transformers. The Bally Reel machines use a similar transformer (E-122-228) The main difference is the game maker transformer uses an additional 115V line to power the monitor. Can I use the E-122-228 transformer and ad the additional 115V tap as I have illustrated in the attached wiring diagram? I would like to here from some folks here before I :98- My machine. Post by: OhioGaming on May 10, 2010, 09:21:52 PM You can try one of these step down/step up transformers .. http://www.starkelectronic.com/st500.htm (http://www.starkelectronic.com/st500.htm)
Title: Re: Before I fry my machine...... Post by: Neonkiss on May 10, 2010, 10:19:41 PM I thought of that before, but then you get the issue of where to stash that kind of transformer.
By using that, I would be stepping up 110V to 220V only to have my on-board transformer step it back down from the 220V to the 110V and all that just to ad an additional 115V line to a very popular transformer.... Hell if I switch out the monitor to a low voltage LCD I don't even need that extra 115V line for the CRT. :200- Title: Re: Before I fry my machine...... Did you check out the pinball guys? I think they use that same transformer you need for older Bally and Stern pinball machines? Title: Re: Before I fry my machine...... Post by: TZtech on May 11, 2010, 04:00:44 PM Hello Neon
Not familiar with this platform - what type of monitor does this machine use ? from the diagrams you posted it appears that the tranformer assembly acts as an isolation transformer for the CRT supply. Normally on Ceronix CRT's this isolation transformer will be part of the monitor chassis (What monitor does this have). - In short if your monitor chassis has a built in isolation transformer your mod will work. If not you may have un unhappy CRT. Ian |
