Title: general bill validator help
Post by: cooter1974 on May 14, 2010, 08:59:12 PM
A client wants a custom bank for his home using a bill validator and coin sorter. The bill validator will accept $1-$20, sort and count and update a simple LCD display. I know nothing about bill acceptors and need to know what I need to buy. What I need is for the acceptor to take the bill, decide what denomination and output a signal accordingly.I bought several validator heads off ebay, but I think I also need a control box or some other unit. If someone could advise me I would greatly appreciate.
I am an electronics engineer (5years) doing it as a side job for a friend. I just need help with the validator part. If more details or clarification is needed, please respond.

Maybe you should just suggest an S+ with a bill validator and he could use that as a bank.

Yup. I've got an S2000 piggy bank and an S+ piggy bank. They both work great.

The change goes to my other piggy bank named Linda. That one's always empty when I try to see how much I have in it, though. :208- :208- :208- :208-

Hi and Welcome to NLG

It depends on what BV's you got and for which machine the software is designed. Generally on older machines there is a lack of standardisation in protocols and each manufacturer communicates with peripherals differently. I would like to emulate the signals coming from the BV as a means of adding credits to a machine without having to invest in hardware that becomes obsolete etc (And notes that become obsolete etc) If you have a look at this post you will see several attachments posted by some other memebers here that have details on some of the BV protocols. - http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=7238.20

Let us know exactly what BV you have and what software is installed.

If I'm reading this post right, he wants the bills to be sorted and counted for him.   :103- :103- :103-

Slot machine DBV's do NOT sort out bills like a money changer.
They basically stack all the bills on top of each other.
He needs something like this...though he may need a "good reason"  in order to purchase one.>>>
