Title: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: Magicslots on May 19, 2010, 06:27:18 PM :99- Setting up the 2CM Double RWB I picked up the other day. Changed the SP from a 709 to a 1271, did a ram clear,
enabled DBV etc. Game works fine except that all of the coins go into the drop box instead of in the hopper! :37- SP1271, SS4704..have tried it in two different machines..same problem. Which setting did I miss or need to change?? :103- Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: knagl on May 19, 2010, 06:46:42 PM Check the wiring for the hopper probe, and if you have a lot of coins in your hopper, raise the probe so that it's not touching the coins. If the probe in the hopper bowl is grounded, the divertor will divert accepted coins to the drop box instead of the hopper.
Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: Magicslots on May 19, 2010, 06:58:05 PM Hopper wire is at the top spot..apparently no ground problem..few coins in hopper..
tried it with hopper out, same problem. The drop door switch settings dont seem to make any difference. Cant seem to find anything in the PSR the set the drop box???? Put the regular board back in my RWB Deluxe, and comparitor/drop box/hopper, etc works fine.. So..something in the game settings... Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: Jim on May 19, 2010, 07:26:52 PM next to the optics is a soleniod that controls the gate that sends coins to the hopper or to the drop box. with the power off you can activate the plunger on the soleniod and see if it is mechanically working, opening and closing, if it is then go to the output tests and go to test # 33 hit the spin button, see if it toggles.
Jim could be the tranistor that controls the soleniod Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: Magicslots on May 19, 2010, 07:31:17 PM Jim;
Is this transistor on the MPU board? When I swapped back to the regular board, (for the machine in the house) all works fine Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: Jim on May 19, 2010, 07:40:13 PM U-16 and Q-17 control the diverter coil. its on the mpu board
Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: Magicslots on May 19, 2010, 07:48:31 PM I know appearances dont mean much...no apparent damage/burn marks to either. How would I test these?
Is there a way to bypass this? I really cant see a reason to ever need the drop box... :103- Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: knagl on May 19, 2010, 08:51:54 PM If you don't intend to swap kits frequently, use your chips for the current kit on the MPU board that is working correctly. :71-
Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: Magicslots on May 19, 2010, 09:44:31 PM Can I just unplug the diverter? Will that give a game error? :103-
Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: OhioGaming on May 19, 2010, 09:56:40 PM It will not cause any errors.
Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: Magicslots on May 19, 2010, 10:47:29 PM Thanks Ken, I'll give that a shot, at least untill I can find out how to test those transistors etc..
Come on, one you electronics gurus give me a hint??? :30- Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: reho33 on May 19, 2010, 11:12:48 PM Does anybody use a drop box for home??
Title: Re: All Coins to Drop Box Problem Post by: stayouttadabunker on May 20, 2010, 12:04:39 AM Does anybody use a drop box for home?? :72- NO! Check the retracting pin under the coin mech bracket. It should be locked into the center hole. If not, the coins go to drop every time. It's very rare but sometimes the whole coin mech unit gets pulled forward and off of the pin when removing a coin comparitor from the holding pins. He said that the divertor works properly when he switched to a different MPU board, so it's very unlikely there's a problem with the divertor itself -- more likely one of the components on the MPU board.
