I just got an IGT S+ everything works except when I have credits built up and hit the cash/credit button.  The machine starts making a noise and will not pay out the credits.  I then have to turn the reset key to get the machine running again.  Any suggestions to fix problem is appreciated.

What noise does it make? Does it sound like the hopper is turning to pay out but no coins are being dispensed, or is it the ding-ding-ding-ding sound of a hand pay due to your settings?

It is a fast dinging sound but not a normal sound for the S+.  It is like a malfunctioning sound.

Sounds like you exceeded the hopper pay limit and went to hand pay, how many credits did you try to cash out?

Only 6 credits.  Coins were in the hopper.

Do you know what chips are in it? That way we can guide you thru the settings that might be causing this issue.

It is a SP 733  reel chip 7863

ss7863 is a 3CM Double Hearts type 0 game
Upgrade to a SP1271 chip and all will be fast, good and easy !

Upgrading from SP733 to to SP1271 is not going to fix his issue, and may result in changes to sounds that he does not like.

DIP switches 1 and 2 should control the max hopper payout on this machine. Try setting both of those to OFF for 300 coin max payout, 1 ON and 2 OFF for 400 coin max payout, and 1 OFF 2 ON for 600 coin max payout. My hunch is they're both set ON, which makes this programmable, and someone has set the programmable value to 0.

Make sure you have turned the machine power off before you remove the MPU board.  The power must always be off before removing or inserting the MPU board, or serious damage can result.

DIP settings are 1-3 on 4-10 off.

Dips 1 & 2 [Off]  will allow 300 credits to be paid out of the hopper.
Dip #3 [On] will give you reel stop and spin sounds.

Ok, make sure you are correct when you check these. The first time I looked at mine, what I thought was the ON position was actually OFF.
If they are indeed both OFF, it sounds like you may have corrupted settings or a bad eprom/MPU board.

Next step is to run the hopper test and see if it can pay out coins. If it can, looks like you will need a set chip and a clear chip at the minimum, do a RAM clear and see if that fixes it. If not, start checking the MPU/eprom. I don't have either of t hose chips, so can't give you the checksum. Do you have an eprom burner you could check them with?

Put clear chip in and got a 62-1 code.  Replaced epron chip still got 62-1 code.  Replaced MPU board and put clear chip in it and still got 62-1 code.  I am up for suggestions.  Is it possible the board the MPU is plugged into is the problem?

62-1 signals a bad data eprom. Have you verified no bent legs on the chip, and it's inserted correctly?

Chip put in correctly and no bent legs.

Reel chip is bad and needs replaced.

That's what I'd agree with, except it wasn't like that until he used the clear chip. :25-

I imagine the reel chip could have gone south, but would point to a different problem for the no payout/handpay issue. :103- :103- :103-

Long shot here  :138-  But look very closely at the chip sockets on the MPU board for the game and reel chips and see if all the little metal connectors are in the pin holes. I had one board that drove me crazy with intermittent operation when changing chips and it turned out a few of the terminals inside of the chip socket broke off. Rare but worth a look! :103-

I have a friend that I can get another reel chiip from I think.  My copilot gave me the nick name back in my military days.

Fixed the problem!  I was using a 733 chip it is designed not to pay out only store credits.  Jim from blueridge slots told me to put a SP1048 chip into the machine and it would work.  He was right machine works great now.  Thanks to everyone for ther help and suggestions!

Glad you got your problem fixed.  I've never heard that about the SP733 and don't see anything in the PSR that says that all cash-outs are handpays, but regardless I'm glad it's working the way you want it to now.
