Title: IGT S+ - 2 0 ERROR?
Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on May 27, 2010, 06:27:31 PM
I have a customer who called and said his S+ was dead - only a  "2  0"  in his win paid meter -  test button - and reset no effect.   No reel movement.   It is 2  spaces then the 0

I'd ask the customer if the reels feel "stiff" when the power is turned on.
If not and they freely turn by hand with very little resistance - then a good
guess is the power supply harness to the motherboard is shot.

Wiggle upwards on the motherboard molex while watching the reels.
If the reels "spring" into place, then it's a bad molex receptor pin on the ground wires.
What you're trying to do when wiggling the molex upwards is
establishing fresh pin contact a little higher up on the pins.
The display lights will come on fully.

Chances are the, the "2, blank, blank, 0"   in the "Winner Paid" window -
is 2,000 credits he cashed out earlier?
I only guessing when I say that the old ground wire receptor pins
took a lot of strain on the last hopper payout?
They heated up then cooled down and oxidized to the point of no return of power.
Wiggling the power molex might give the machine new life.

the message is a 62 0  - seems the glass shifted and the only thing visable was the 2 0.

Presumably you got them straightened out now, then?  If not: http://www.newlifegames.net/igterrors/

once I got the glass aligned - 62 0 is a straight forward code whereas 2 0 didn't make any sense.  the meter panel was not tight hence the glass shift.  the SP chip was n.g.

The game was working before?
Then the SP chip just dies?
I've never had an SP chip just die.
SOMEbody either pulled the chip and re-installed it and
folded under a leg or pulled the MPU was the power was on.

the sp731 had a ? penciled on it - replaced the sp and the machine worked.  no bent pin.

Ah!...Good!
Then it IS a bad chip.
A penciled number or question mark is confirmed.
Now we know why the [62-0] error code occurred.
Did you try this particular "question mark" chip on another machine to see if it causes a [62-0] ?
Or, do a reading on the checksum of it?
What is confusing me is the fact that it once worked before and now, for some reason,  it doesn't.

Anyways, the problem machine is now functioning...that's a plus.  :89-
