Title: Problems with a S+
Post by: ddp385 on May 28, 2010, 09:57:31 PM
I recently got a S+ that a friend was getting rid of. This is my first slot machine so I'm not entirely in sync with all the terminology but I've been reading this board for the past hour or so trying to troubleshoot.

Originally I was getting a "12" when I reset the machine, so I found the motherboard, took it out, and got the battery changed.

Now I'm getting a "6 6" when I reset it and the game credit box shows 696 (not sure if this means anything). Also, the lamp on top is flashing quickly on the bottom and not at all on the top.

Thank you for any help, I really want to get this thing working, especially now that I've put so much time into it.

Here is a link to the common error codes.

Open door, turn off, and on, close door and tell what happens.

Update:

I tried the open door, turn off/on, close door, still nothing, but after about an hour or so of tinkering I think I may have isolated the problem.

My coin-collector doesn't take the coins, they just sit in the top of the slot. I can get them out by sliding the collector open at which point they slide down to the bin, not the hopper. If I push the little button on the coin mechnism is registers a credit and I can play. I was able to do so and the machine worked perfectly. It just doesn't make much sense to play with the door open and w/o coins  :60-

Also, now the top lamp is lit but the bottom lamp is still blinking quickly.

Trying to read between the lines on this one, but sounds like you don't have a sample coin installed in the coin comparitor. You said you slide the coin collector open to free the coins, the part your sliding open MUST have a coin placed between the slide and the left side of the comparitor, the denomination of the coin will be what ever your machine is ( Nickel, quarter, Dollar ) If this doesn't work send me a PM with your phone number and I will give you a call      Buzz

YES! I went and put a quarter in and sure enough it works perfectly. I can't describe what a relief this is, I've spent the past two days cleaning this thing up, running around town looking for keys, batteries, etc, and soldering. I was certain I had broken something important in the process. Thank you so much.

Now I can get down to making it looks and sound nice.

ps. I'm a college student so I don't have a big budget, I got the machine for free and did everything (polish, replacement keys, battery) for under $20. Can't wait to see the look at my friends' faces when they see this in our living room. Plus I think I may have found a new hobby.

And for your second repair, you will be required to post a picture of your machine. Sorry that's the new rules.

If you think the above is a bunch of BS, your right it is !!! ( BS is the only thing I'm good at )  But please fill out your profile and again WELCOME :88- :88- :88- :88-
