Title: JCM-145 EPROM
Post by: amusement on June 02, 2010, 06:38:49 PM
Hello All,
Went on a service call and opened 2 S+ games both have JCM 145 DBV called JCM and they do not support this DBV anymore.
The tech told me to ask around for the upgraded EPROM. So it will take the new 1-5-10-20........
Maybe some can push me in the right direction to a repair person or a place to get the EPROM.

Any help???? Happy M Day to all!!

All so is there anyway to set the credits to go up to 9000 so there is no auto payouts?
The cash-out button is disconnected so the only way it pays in on jackpots.....
So if I set the credit limit to 9000 most likely there would not be a pay-out......

Thanks for your time and help in advance,,,,,Dave

If the JCM Technician told you over the phone that they do
not support that particular DBV - I would assume that none exists.

As far as setting your credits for higher handpay setting - you need to read this and
tell us what chips are in your machine so we can help you as to what to do next>>

Hello All,
Well after talking to a few tech's I have found out that you can not upgrade this
JCM DBV because there is not enough memory on the 512 EPROM to support the
new color bills.
So the next step is to upgrade to a WBA 13 that includes power supply
bill box and all the brackets and harness.
Then to reprogram the IGT to accept the new DBV.
Also I was told I would most likely need a IGT reset chip?
So this one is going over my head...LOL
Thanks for the replies .....Dave

Personally, I'd just upgrade the head to a DBV-200.  It's no longer supported either, but uses the same transport and accepts all the current colored bills (4 ways) except for the purple 5's.  You may have to update the power supply as well if it's not vented on the top and bottom.  Any of the vendors at the top of the page should be able to provide the parts.

Bill validator software updates are no longer available for any of the S+ (ID-022/23) bill validators.  So even if you go though all the pain of trying to upgrade it to a WBA-13 it still will not accept the purple 5's since that software was never released.  The WBA13 will accept them in other platforms that the software was released for, S2000's, Game Kings/I-games, Bally S6000's, and others, just not the S+ or any other machines that requires ID022/23 protocol.

Thanks Tilt,
I think you hit the nail on the head I am now looking for some used DBV-200-SS
I also need to replace the power supply.

Thanks a ton for your help

P.S. is there a program change for the credits to go higher before it pays out?

The game is an IGT S+

I disconnected the cash out button so I figured if the hopper would not start until
the credits hit 9000 it would most likely not pay out.

Thanks Dave

That'd be the easiest, cheapest, and quickest way of updating it.  The last S+ software version is V2.60-04.  I've attached a software information sheet for it.

As far as the credit limit settings go, it's dependent on what Game Prom (SP) is installed in the game.  As Bunker and knagl have pointed out if you post the SP number for the one installed in those machines someone should be able to help you with the specific settings.

Actually there is Software for the S+/PE+ for the New $5 if using WBA, it isn't cheap and don't recommend for home machines, but for operators we can supply the components to do it, no it is not a chip, so please don't ask for it:)

You know, late last year I was at a casino in Laughlin and they had a few banks of S+ and PEII+ machines.  I thought, I wonder....but I didn't have any purple 5's on me  :25-  I figured if they wouldn't take them there would be signs stating that so people wouldn't try over and over to get the machines to accept them.  Maybe they would have??? K+ for the info.

Hi Knaql,
Thanks for the post I have one of the boards here infront of me

and the GAME PROM chip says ( SP731) on a small label.

The CMOS chip is a KM6264BL-10   IF THAT HELPS

The REEL PROM IS A  M2764AF1

Sure hope this helps if you need a pic of the board I will send or post one.

Thanks again Dave

You didn't read the link I gave you ( http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/SPSS.htm )
or you would have posted the correct number for the Reel Prom.
Instead, you gave us the type of device that's in the socket - That doesn't
give us any clue as to what game you have.
However, if the label on the SP Prom is correct, then there's a paper on the
door that will tell you how to set the dip switches on the MPU for the hopper coin payout...
You have a choice of 300, 600 or programmable. I'd set it for the max of 300 coins.
To do this, make sure dips 1 & 2 are in the off position.

The "Hand-Pay lockup" automatically matches the hopper payout you've set it to.
Again, look at the paper on you door and adjust the dip switches if you want it go
into hand pay mode at, for example, 600 coins.

If you want to go into hand pay mode at a higher setting,
I will tell you this after you make a donation to NLG.  :208-

Dave,

There's a Program Summary Report (PSR) for SP731 in the files section, click on "submit a new file tab" and its listed as PSR Version SP731.  Download it and it will help with the game specific options.  If you want to be able to have 9000 credits on the machine then you'll need to set the max hopper payout dip switches on the MPU board (SW1 & 2 to on) to programmable and set the max hopper pay for 9000 coins in software.  Theres also a S+ manual in there that will help you navigate through the various menus to get to the max hopper payout settings.

Good luck!

Software was made for the new $5 on S+/PE+ machines but it's only available from one place, Patriot Gaming, and they will only provide it to licensed locations. So it's quite possible the Laughlin machines had been upgraded. It was never released generally because of IGT's understandable lack of interest in prolonging the lives of these older games.

Thanks Op-bell.  So it's out there, but not for us mere mortals.   :8-

If your cashout button is disconnected why not reconnect it. If the switch doesn't work swap it w/ the service button switch.
