Title: WMS 550 and WBA set up SOLVED...THANKS JIM !
Post by: cp on June 28, 2010, 12:23:43 PM
Working on a 550 Williams video upright.  ( Reel Em In / single screen ).    I installed an  LCD monitor.  After clearing,  my WBA  will not cycle.  The 2 small  led lights on the  WBA are lit.  I have a known good  I/O.  Dip switches  1  & 2 are all off (  no jumpers )

Posting a picture of the Screen showing that the machine has a  jcm  145/146  installed :103-

As I remember,  some of the 550 's  had a small board attached in the  Bill Validator wiring harness.   This machine has no board.  Doesn't look like one was ever mounted on the back side of the  cash can BV  assembly.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

If there is no comm board behind the housing it needs an RS-232 board on the side of the WBA

WBA  13  installed.  ....there is a  very small board attached to the  left / bottom (plug-in) side of the  WBA... perhaps it is not a "good"  board ??   I'll pull the board off and install it in another  WBA.

Pulled the small (RS-232 )board off the WBA that came with machine ... re-installed on another WBA...  It initialized and now is working !

THANKS JIM  ...  YOU  DA  MAN ! !

For some reason,  I thought the  RS232  was the board BEHIND  the BV enclosure / case.

( My "original"  WBA 13  with the RS232 board attached must have had an issue from the git-go )

Attached picture of   Service/ Revision screen now...

It is, that is a WMS product, the one on the side of the BV is a JCM product, either one will work, just easier having in the game, the earlier cabinets had the bv mounted one, later ones the cabinet one, never use both, try a different eprom in the 13 that doesn't work, possibly bad or wrong software, btw WMS is not the only manufacturer that uses the RS-232, the reason it came up after clear is the BV wasn't found, same thing would happen if it was removed when cleared, the 145 was just the default with that O/S, glad it worked out
