Title: Belly glass removal for universal
Post by: slot monkey on November 05, 2008, 01:41:44 AM
I am trying to remove the belly glass on my universal to replace a bulb and check wiring.

It seems that I have to remove the button/controls on the console of the exterior door.

How do I take apart the lower swith of the button/controls, to remove the buttons, so I can remove the belly glass.

Do the swithes unscrew? Pull apart?

Hello!

On the Universal I owned, you didn't have to do anything with the buttons to remove the belly glass.  You just had to remove the screws along on the bottom on the inside of the door and then slide the whole glass/frame upward to remove it.  I've attached a pic trying to show the screws I'm talking about.

Your mileage may vary... :)

On the conventional Universal door there are four screws that hold the belly glass. The screws at each end need to be removed, the center two just loosened. Then the frame and glass can be lifted up in front.

But Slot Monkey has an unconventional door with larger glass. (see second pic) I would guess it is hinged and drops down when released. Just a guess. My Ultra's are this way. There is an external push button on the door on the right side with a lock.

How this machine's glass is removed, I don't know?

Thanks for the replies guys!

I will be working on the glass removal within the next couple of days.

The lower flouresent tube is blinking and driving me crazy.

So I will post some pics of the removal in progress.
