Title: PE PLUS owner would need clues to fix his machine
Post by: BALLIGATOR1973 on July 11, 2010, 02:32:00 PM
 Hi there,

The victim is a PE PLUS poker, built without bill acceptor.

The machine used to work properly until it got a COIN IN TIME OUT, which is a common troubleshooting I assume.

It showed DOOR OPEN as well.

What I did:

-I attempted to use the self test switch to see what would happen: NOTHING
- I closed the door, still DOOR OPEN ON SCREEN whereas the optics are good.

Then:

I removed the board and changed the set of eprom games: Game, Data, MRO, MGO, MXO, MBO
The COIN IN TIME OUT did clear but now it says CMOS DATA, the Self Test Switch would need to be pressed but it does not respond...
I thought it would be a good idea to cut the tree wires from the the self Test Optics and gather the three of the together to see what would happen: result: my self Test switch is now broken I have three hanging wires and nothing happens when they are united.
I perused the fforum and found out that the green one goes to the COM, please what could anyone post a pic of a self test switch with the three wires soldered properly? I don't understand what a COM, NC, or NO mean? Is it normal nothing happens when I put the three wires together? I mean in case the board is ok.
I will try to test another board tomorrow to see what happens.
You will notice that I am a bit confused... If I go on like this my machine will have deeper problems.
 Help me please...

News...

I checked the fuses and realized one was not ok.

Now the self test switch works, I could clear the machines.

The only problem now is that the five Hold buttons do not work... I wonder why.

I would be looking at the ground wire....

Its the only thing common (no pun intended) on the butons deck.

I don't understand what a COM, NC, or NO mean?

For future reference, these are designations for switch terminals:

NC = Normally Closed - this is shorted to common when switch is at rest
NO = Normally Open  - this is shorted to common when the switch is pressed
COM = COMmon        - see above  :96-

All of the buttons are wired in series.  If one of the buttons is wired wrong, all of the buttons after the incorrectly wired button will not work.  I'm not sure what buttons are in series before the first three hold buttons.  If memory serves, though, hold buttons four and five are not in the same series (that is, if 1, 2, and 3 aren't working, 4 and 5 can still work).  Check for any stuck buttons, and understand that the wires have to be put on in the correct order (if you have a NC and NO wire swapped, it will cause the buttons to stop working.

The self test input screen (the first screen that comes up when you press the self test button) is good for troubleshooting button problems.
