Title: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 12, 2010, 09:03:37 PM Guys, I'm getting addicted to these machines. Picking up a Red White and Blue Big Times Pay S2000 this week! Looks like a fun machine! If you have any advice, comments, things to look for, etc, I'd appreciate your expertise. It's got a ticket printer, MEI validator, keys, clear chip. More photos and video to come later in the week!
Cheers! Jason Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 13, 2010, 04:21:53 AM Looks like one of the major issues is around the static/hum. I'm trying to get part numbers/revisions of the amp board, sound card, and MPU. From the giant post, looks like 10 ohm resistors do the trick with most of these.

I completely agree with "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," but it sounds like some if the board revisions sound REALLY bad unless a bandaid is applied in some fashion. Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: reho33 on July 13, 2010, 08:16:06 PM I have an s2000 here and yes, there is some hum but not really noticable. There was a thread on this and the consensus was, leave it.
Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: IFFV68 on July 13, 2010, 11:30:27 PM You will love your S2000. If you have a noise problem with the speakers, you would know already. It's a horrible sound.
If there are any Casinos near you put your ear next to a S2000. The Upper fan makes a little noise & they hum inside. Like one member said .you don't hear that in a Casino. Advise, Hang on to your wallet. These machines are a lot of fun. The more you learn on this site the more comfortable you will be owning one. Good luck Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: PWRSTROKE on July 13, 2010, 11:43:49 PM There were probably at least 500 posts in the past and long past here ago about this concern. I think a lot of info must have been lost as some of MINE here. B.
Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 14, 2010, 12:06:28 AM Picking it up Friday. Once I get it home, I'll start digging into it and determine whether or not the noise is going to kill me. The stickied topic that I started in the S+ forum was soothing to my ears after I ran with Bunker's reel mod. At any rate, this game came from the Luxor, so one of the first things that I'm gonna do is paint that "Fruit Striped Gum" cabinet satin black.
Then, the posts will flow. ;) Thanks for the help guys! Jason Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 14, 2010, 12:14:26 AM lol...yeah dude...please get rid of the stripes phew! lol
Otherwise, great machine!!! :89- You're gonna have a lot to play with! Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 14, 2010, 12:50:01 AM Nasty cabinet. Won't be that way for long. ;)
Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 14, 2010, 12:59:12 AM oh my god! That's looks like the foyer of the Brady Bunch home. :72-
I'd be looking down the spray paint aisles at Walmart right away. My son did his go-kart with some kind of Body Armour sticky paper for example that looks great! You can always do a nice laminate job like Bob does too! Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: ashyron on July 14, 2010, 06:04:28 PM Yea, it came from Luxor alright. I have 5 machines that look exactly like this one and actually have the same game in one of them. I wish my reel strips looked better though. It's a fun game, hard to win anything on but fun. The static noise I hear in my speakers isn't enough to make me want to do anything about it. Enjoy the game.
Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: IFFV68 on July 14, 2010, 08:18:22 PM You have a nice collection.
I'm stopping at two, lack of space, lack of funds. I have my D.D. Haywire with D.D.H. I.G.T. Topper & I have ordered a Double Time 3x4x5x. Both are Round Tops & S2000. thank again, Richard Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 17, 2010, 05:01:27 AM Picked up the machine today! After driving for 8 hours straight, it's now sitting in the room all shined up and has a shiny new black cabinet...goodbye Fruit Striped Gum! Cleaned out the inside, rinsed out and oiled the fan, and removed the Luxor decals. Chrome is in excellent shape! Said goodbye to my Jackpot Jungle...the guy that I bought the RWB and Game King from took it in on trade. It was fun for a while, but it got boring pretty quick.
Haven't played around too much in menus yet...too tired. Photos and video will be coming soon! Couple questions about the machine: 1. It has a MM Lite sound board in it and SIMM on it. Is this the only sound option that BTP machines have? The reel spin sounds are the generic IGT classic spin sounds...no enhanced options it looks like. Is there a MM Lite 2 option to provide more souns? 2. The buzz only comes out of the left speaker. If I try the resistor trick, anyone got a Radio Shack part number/spec? If that doesn't work, I'll probably order a 504b board. Thanks again guys! Jason Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: a69mopar on July 17, 2010, 11:30:09 AM Most have reel spin sound options and or roll up sound options. You'll have to navigate through your menus to see what options yours has.
Thanks, Wayne Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: uniman on July 17, 2010, 12:45:33 PM Another nice machine! :244-
And it's obvious you like to tinker. Take a look at what r273, Ron did with his S2000's card reader area. I think he installed a Bally Mastercom for his card readers. Very cool! :71- Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 17, 2010, 03:29:34 PM Some photos...I'll get some "Dark Room" shots tonight. ;)
Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 17, 2010, 03:30:41 PM Couple more:
Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 17, 2010, 03:41:48 PM Couple photos of the board and MM Lite. Should I clip off the green battery? Board is a 503 Rev A.
The game has cool sound, but I wasn't sure if the board I have is an MML 1 or 2 and if there are other sound SIMM's that can be upgraded. Thanks! Jason Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Tilt on July 17, 2010, 04:33:37 PM The easiest way to differentiate them: Multi-media Lite (MML) boards have EPROM sockets (four of them). Multi-media Lite 2 (MML2) boards support a single Flash SIMM card. Your machine has the proper sound simm installed DSV0051, it ain't gonna get any better than that.
Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: a69mopar on July 17, 2010, 05:23:35 PM yes, remove the nicad battery.

Attached are some night photos! Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Tilt on July 18, 2010, 02:00:22 AM Lookin' Good, Congrats :3- Don't forget to ditch the green nicad like Wayne said, it'll only give you grief down the road if you don't!
Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Magicslots on July 18, 2010, 02:41:26 AM :185- Congratulations on the new game! Great looking GK also! AS a side question...
How hard is this RWB game kit to come by for the S2000? :103- Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 18, 2010, 02:53:59 AM Nice machine Yoeddy!!! Congrats! :3-

Whats the Ni-Cad battery do and why remove it??? :103- Captain Hook Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 18, 2010, 03:00:30 AM If you leave the big GREEN BATTERY in there,
it will deteriorate and begin to leak acid onto the board and eat wire traces and pretty much completely destroy your board. Still want to leave it in? :72- Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Captain Hook on July 18, 2010, 03:03:18 AM I guess thats a good enough reason to remove it but why was it put there to begin with??

Post by: Buzz on July 18, 2010, 03:05:39 AM Captain Hook Tilt told us they are for Casino Security and of no use for home use!!! If you would like some of them, I have about 30 I would sell cheap!!! :200- :200-

Post by: Tilt on July 18, 2010, 03:30:09 AM There are few threads on S2000 nicad batteries, but the bottom line is get rid of it before it starts leaking and damages your MPU board. There are several circuit traces in the vicinity of the battery that are part the circuits that detect open doors. Typically the first sign of damage you'll notice is that you get intermittent Door Open M or Door Open MB error messages, unfortunately by the time you see them the damage is likely already done. You can usually verify that by checking for corrosion built up on the battery terminals and surrounding components. If you have a lot of corrosion then realigning door optics/belly switches most likely won't help you clear the error. You'll need a new MPU board.
Here's one thread. http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=5189.0 The purpose of the nicad battery is to provide backup power to "telltale" circuitry which log security events (primarily door openings/closings) when the AC power is out/off. Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 18, 2010, 03:56:12 AM Thanks for the comments and help guys! I just finished doing a key chip config and setting up the printer with a partial pay between the hopper and printer. Pretty cool machine! The nicad battery battery will be tomorrow's project. I think I'm actually done and ready to play it now! Ha!
The sounds are great on it. The only thing that I wish I could change is the spin sound, but it looks like it's maxed out for options. This game appears to only have the generic IGT spin sound. Oh well, not a biggie, unless there is a chip that will change that. ;) Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 18, 2010, 03:58:30 AM Nice machine Yoeddy!!! Congrats! :3- You've come a long way since you first came on here with your Jackpot Jungle... :72- No doubt bunker...learned a ton from the gang out here. Now I've just gotta get my CEI poker machine sold. ;) Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Will the machine lose some of its settings without it??? :103- Captain Hook After you remove it you will need to do a clear with a 97 clear chip, I suggest clearing it 3 times to really clean that sucker out. And then after that you need to do a Key 17 and set-up the machine again. It's a fairly simple process and really worth it to save your board as Tilt and Stat suggests. Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 18, 2010, 10:52:11 PM Jim, I've got a 31 keychip. Used it last night successfully. Haven't popped off the nicad battery yet. Am I going to need the chips below that you specified? Also, do I have to de-solder that thing, or can i just 'clip' it off? I'm not the world's best soldering guy by any means.

Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Tilt on July 19, 2010, 12:47:53 AM You can clip it out if you're not comfortable desoldering it from the board. You shouldn't need to Key it afterwards because the nicad battery has nothing to do with backing up the machines settings/configuration, the coin cell battery is responsible for that. Key 31 will work for your machine though should you ever need it.
Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 19, 2010, 04:36:46 AM Any tips on clipping these things out? Not a lot of room around there to clip without possibly damaging something else.

Either that or you can yank it out with pliers like usautoservice did, but I don't recommend that.

I am taking batteries out of mine now. 1 down -5 more to go. when I looked they are all starting to corode. Tried @ solder and didn't like heat on board. I support battery with one hand and get between battery and bracket w/fine screwdriver and pry battery and bracket apart. Then real careful bend bracket back & forth till it breaks off. Put back in machine & all works. No set up Ford Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: FORDSBS on July 19, 2010, 12:20:02 PM 2 down--fast way to do it.
both work ok Title: Re: My new RW&B Big Times Pay!!! Post by: reho33 on July 19, 2010, 12:55:20 PM I un-soldered mine and had no problems, clean off.

I'm 70 and my eye sight is not what it used to be. I have trouble seeing to solder. Back in the 70's & 80's when I worked on cb radios I had a mag. glass with a light. Used the pliers trick, but all I did was wiggle it left to right and it just detached itself almost like it was held on with chewing gum. Very harmless. Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 19, 2010, 10:16:16 PM I couldn't take it any more. There were air bubbles and minor residue on the 25 cent sticker. Made it look like there were little worms behind the sticker...not sure if you can tell by the photo. Took off the panel and cleaned the sticker, glass, and inside panel. Reapplied the sticker and now it is "el perfecto." I'm so sick.
