Title: got a ? with multi denom
Post by: staz on July 15, 2010, 07:39:50 PM
is there a reason why if i leave my machine on idle it brings it back to the lowest denom?  :103- i have a $5,$10.$25.$50 denom but evrytime i play a denom higher then 5 and leave it without any credits it automaticly brings it back to $5 denom with in like 2 minutes...... is there any option to change that?  :99-

That's a jurisdiction setting. Most gaming laws say multi-denom machines must default to the lowest denomination to avoid player confusion, especially in the pre denomination pad days. There's was some disputes filed in MS with multi-denom machines from patrons that put money in a machine and played and suddenly they didn't have any credits. They thought they were playing a quarter machine only to find out it was set on the dollar setting and felt cheated.. yet if they would have won I'm sure they wouldn't have felt so cheated.

I'm sure there's some way to change it but it'd probably be easier just to touch the pad and change it.

I have been testing one of my machines for about a hour, and it did not default back to a lower Denom. I don't use the touch pad, I have it hooked up to a button to the right of the Max Bet Button. I don't think that would make a difference, but maybe?  Staz would you look and see which Version chip you have?

Buzz, if I know you, you have credits on the machine. Try it with no credits... :79-

The idea behind the regulation is that a prior player has left the machine and a new player has arrived and does not want to be trapped into playing a higher denomination than she intended.

David why don't you come over and play the 4000 credits off my Big Time Pay?  With your LUCK and this NO paying machine, shouldn't take very long at all.  :25- :25- :25- :25- :25- :25-

Buzz you could always cash out to do the test  :96- :79-  Course I could send the Warden over, machine would be empty in about 20 minutes.. I've had to reload hers too many times already after getting it back on line. Do you know who long it takes to put 100 single dollar bills thru a DBV..lol   Time to get the DBV updated

You're right. I'd have it drained in no time, but I'd switch over to dollars first to get those credits down to 200 to make things easier. :96-

but if one denom hits a jackpot that denom wont hit for a while but the other denoms hit there fore i think each denom has its own calculation of jackpots thats why u prob have to set percentages for each denom.....  i could be wrong it could be pure luck lol

Come on Staz. You've been on here long enough to know better. Class III gaming devices have to operate under the theory of independent trials using a random number generator that passes the gaming commission's tests for randomness. In addition, virtually all of the major manufacturers that we discuss here use PIA, or player initiated action, to eliminate any nonrandom irregularities inherent in any computer generated random number sequences.

Furthermore, the part of the program that selects the numbers, maps them to the virtual stops, checks those against the symbols, looks up the symbols to see if the outcome is a winning combination, and then looks up the pay table to find out how much to pay out, have absolutely nothing to do with the denomination that you've set, the number of credits on the machine, or whether or not you just hit the jackpot or haven't won anything in months. It also doesn't care if the moon or the cash can is full. :5-

Now, the odds of a particular outcome occurring ARE directly related to paytable that has been assigned to a particular denomination. It's not that the machine gives a darn what that denomination is; it's simply that by assigning a specific paytable with a specific payback percentage to a particular denomination setting, you are instructing the machine to use that paytable when that denomination is selected.

The only change in what happens is that the random numbers selected are mapped to a slightly different virtual stop listing to determine which symbols to select. Everything else in the process is unchanged, and since you've selected the same paytable (with the highest percentage) for each of your denominations, there is no change at all. Even if that were not the case, the machine does not use prior outcomes to affect the random numbers selected for the next spin. That's what "independent trials" means. Each outcome is independent of those that came before and those that will follow. So the odds of hitting the jackpot are the same for each spin.

There are some bar top machines that are "rigged" to change the odds of winning to keep the machine in line with an operator-selected payout percentage, but such devices are usually installed under illegal conditions, and legal or not, no such device would ever be approved for casino-type class III gaming.

last stupid ? ......lol  can a paytable get altered by changing the denom to a higher denom on the machine.... meaning one combination on my glass pays a lesser  amount when it hits.... on my glass it says purple 7s with a bar pays 50 for 1 coin and 100 credits for 2 coins but when it hits it pays 40 and 80..... or is it my sb chip?

When I first got my first s2000 I ran the same hundred dollar bill in it till I had 6000 credits, and played for an hour, then I hit the cash out by accident and had to shovel quarters in the hopper for hours.... Now, any time I set a machine up , I always set the hopper limit to ZERO, that way it just goes to hand pay and I flip the key.  I save printer paper too on the ones with a printer.   I am sure you know this, but just in case anyone else reads this it might help .  No one told me this trick, I had to figure it out my self.

Or set a split pay so the hopper pays so much then goes to hand or ticket pay. I've got mine set so I can get $10 or a $100 dollars in quarters then it goes to handpay or a ticket
