Not a bad o-scope. The crt analyzer might come to better use though. Careful if you use it as it'll kill a picture tube FAST if used improperly. I used one just like that for years before it went tits up and got replaced :89-

Wouldn't it be easier to run off your computer video card to the tv with composite or svideo? Looks like the adapters are about $6 on fleabay, but it depends on what you have for inputs on the tv

I had been looking at scopes a few months back, mostly just to mess around with, to learn more about reading digital signals, and to be able to find analog voltage problems.

Differant cicuits, differant wave forms, your read it like ekg tapes. Most schematics will have a picture of what a particulr wave form SHOULD look lie

Some of the information can be discerned through schematics and technical manuals, including clock timing cycles for digital pulsed signals.

As far as analog waveforms go, Bunker could start by learning about the circuitry of the specific slot that he wants to tackle, and take readings on a known good board to get familiar with what to expect.

He could always check a suspect circuit's waveform against the same reading in a known good machine for irregularities. He could also ask the expert members here for help, both in determining if there are problems, and for help in learning to understand what the readings mean.

There are also books on electronic diagnostics that he could read that will help him advance his knowledge of circuit diagnostics.

Mark, I have been involved in electronics since 7 yrs old and being a ham radio operator (KI3L) I know about those patterns. If you look it up, how to interpret them is very useful.

Depending on your locale, $300 isn't awful for a working S+, but it's not a steal, either.  It's a 9" chop top S+ with a Wild Cherry clone game kit in there (more about the kit here (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=6542.0)).  Maybe try and talk him down a tiny bit before sealing the deal?

I was looking at it more as a source for spare parts (and parting some of it out). I wanted to buy a spare hopper, but with shipping, that alone runs about $50. and I also wanted another set of reels which is another $40 or so. Buying all of those parts seperate can add up quick. It's local, so easy enough to pick up. It has been up for a while, so maybe I'll give it a few more days and toss out an offer. Of course the last time I waited too long someone else snagged one that came with a couple of extra game kits.  :25-

  Kirk gave the quiz away,  I didn't buy it from Kirk, but it turns out it's the same machine he owned at one time. I found it on Craigslist Los Angeles $375 I offered him $300 and he excepted the offer. Just what I needed another damn slot machine.  :279- :279- :279-

For you guys with inquisitive minds ( Bunker ) it has SP 3411 and SS 3402   The only info. I found on a SP 1311 says its a Type 0,1,4,5,14 Tournament/ much faster than SP1253.  Machine excepts credits real slow so I tried a SP1271  get a 68 error. Installed a SP731 and fixed the slow count.

CVslots   I'm certainly not the person to ask, but I've been told when IGT comes up with their next original idea, it will be in fact their first one.

I have to show this dinosaur off. Saw this IGT Model 701 Fortune One on Craigslist days and days ago. Sent a few E mails to the owner and made him a ridiculously low offer of $40. He accepted! I had no idea if it was fixable but I've been lucky with an old Bally video twentyone. Took it home and started tightening hardware, checking connectors and replacing old rotted wiring harness fasteners Powered it up and found the video color controls. After I just wiggled them around, the color and contrast all came back (I have more posted in the video gaming) and after replacing the top florescent bulbs, all the true colors came back. With the exception of the incorrect denomination (it's 25 cents), the thing seems to work and pay out perfectly! I cleaned the exterior and glued back two small chips that occurred during the move (almost not noticable) and finally polished the hell out of the chrome.
Here's the result!

I seem to keep learning about it as I go. Getting help from another member here on how to change the denom back to 25 cents. Other funny thing is that, when I first powered it up, I opened the hatch to the mpu and an alarm went off! I really know very little about this machine but, it just seems to be made quite well. And thankfully someone left that hatch unlocked! This machine took three keys originally I think. The side of the mpu area is yellow with old cigarette smoke that was sucked in...ick!

I had gotten a Bally's Proslot 6000 last year, in trade for a cell phone, but it didn't work properly.  I found a guy on Craigslist who said that he knew how to fix them, but he never emailed me back at all, until last week.  I got an email from him saying that he has a Bally's Proslot 6000 4 reel machine that he wants gone now!  In my email to him last year, I inidicated to him that I'd like to build my own "casio" at home and have a couple of slots in it.  I asked him what condition the machine was in and  he said "Excellent & excellent working condition".  I'm going to pick it up tomorrow morning, for $50.  I think I got a decent deal on it. 

I'm not enthusiastic with the theme of it "Winning for Dummies", but figure that I can change that, ,maybe????  (I've seen posts on here about people changing the theme of their machines- not sure how I'd do it, but thats why I'm on this site- for guidance).

I'lll be anxious to plug it in tomorrow when I get home and see what it does- I figure for $50, its a great deal. 

As far as I know, most of the casinos now are using video slots, so these guys are becoming fewer and fewer.

Yep, that's a good deal!  I also like the Winning for Dummies kit, but yes, you can put different kits in there.  It'll require new (to you) glass, reel strips, game EPROM chips, and a clear chip, but it can be done and it isn't terribly difficult to do.  We can help you every step of the way -- just start a post in the Bally 6000 reel category if/when you want to make a change.

Didn't go get it today- the guy emailed me at 3am saying he got called into work- I emailed him back for a different time- we'll see what happens. 

Do you guys think this would be hard to fix? And how much do you think this is worth?  I don't see a name of the game anywhere on the machine.  i wonder why it takes brittish coins.

It looks like that Winning for Dummies is a clone. I can't remember the name of the original game, but I'm sure one of the Bally guys will chime in.

If you like the payouts but not the colors/scheme of WfD, you should be able to just swap out the glass and strips for a set from the original game.

The Bmaxx, pachi, isn't worth the $300 in markets west of the Mississippi. Those machines go for less than $200 all day long out here. The S2000, same thing, might be right for your area, but I'd be thinking more around $500 would be a fair price from a private seller. You just don't know what issues you might be buying with it and it's not a particularly desireable title. If you want that title, post a WTB on the site here or talk to a vendor
