Title: General Reel Tilt Post by: FORDSBS on July 26, 2010, 09:15:38 PM Have a problem with an IGT S2000 5 reel. When I start up it goes into general reel tilt. I tried reset key & about every thing else.
It goes back into reel tilt. The only way to get it running again is to 5.1 reel strip test - run through full cycle. Then it it works. It will work all day. When I turn it off (which I use a surge strip & do not open door) It will go into general reel tilt when i turn it on. Do reel test & it will work OK until I turn it off. Driving me nuts. any help appreciated. Ford Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 26, 2010, 09:35:42 PM Check your MPU battery.
I'd start looking around for a spare board as well... Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: FORDSBS on July 26, 2010, 09:39:02 PM battery ok. I was afraid it was the board.
I may as well check with Jim and see if he has one. Thanks--even if it's bad news. Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 26, 2010, 09:41:24 PM Are all the reels strips on tight?
If one is loose, and touching the reel glass - it will tilt too. Exactly what code are you getting in your LCD/ vacuum display panel? Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: FORDSBS on July 26, 2010, 09:52:55 PM strips are tight and not rubbing. If they would it not keep operating good for hours with no trouble after i run reel test.
call attendant general reel tilt I thought maybe battery since I turn it on and goes into reel tilt. If I turn it off and back on right away it will be ok. If I turn it off 1/2 hr. I will go into reel tilt. That's why I was hopping battery. Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: FORDSBS on July 26, 2010, 09:59:56 PM Maybe I should try another battery first. Can't hurt
It reeds 2.61--the same as the other 3 I have. Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 26, 2010, 10:09:19 PM For what it's worth, I fought some misc errors a year ago with my old S+ and it ended up being a bent pin on a cable connector to the MPU. I was getting battery errors, reel errors, etc, and some days it would work for hours, sometimes minutes, with or without a new battery. Drove me crazy. Once I straightend it out with pliers, never had a problem again.
Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: FORDSBS on July 26, 2010, 10:15:43 PM Thanks, I'll check. Anything is worth a try.
Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 26, 2010, 10:16:47 PM Good stuff Yoeddy1! :3-
You may be on the right track. Pins CAN get bent if the MPU is handled a little rough. More likely though, depending on where the machine was stored & while it was away from the controlled enviroment of a casino floor, it's possible that dampness may have corroded certain female and male receptor pins in the machines' connectors somewhere. It's helpful at times to pull connectors apart and push them back together to rub off a little of the corrosion and oxidization that can accumulate onto the contacts. Reho33 of PA has sworn that the stuff he has called "Deoxit" - works wonders! I still want to get some and try it on my connectors.!!! :91- :91- As far as the onboard watch-like flat battery, I think it has to drop under 2.2 volts ( I'm not sure of the exact low voltage point) in order for the machine to send out a low battery error code to the display panel. The reason why I said to check it is because it seems that your machine tilts when powering up. So you go into the tests and get it all back in order and it works a while - until you shut off the machine. When the machine is powered off - this is when the onboard battery springs into action - to save the machines' settings. If at any point the battery drops below a certain threshold - the machine starts acting crazy. Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: FORDSBS on July 26, 2010, 10:25:19 PM Thanks Bunker & Eddy.
That will keep me out of trouble for awhile. Going to go over all connections. Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: reho33 on July 27, 2010, 12:03:07 AM Here is the link: http://www.caig.com/ Worth it's weight in gold............ :3-
Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 27, 2010, 12:58:07 AM That's the stuff!!!
Thanks for the look at it reho! :3- Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: Bettor Slots on July 27, 2010, 01:12:45 AM I have run into this several times now and most of the time it ended up being a short in the reel harness....it's very hard to track down the culprit too. It's odd too, because like you said you can go into I/O tests and spin the reels and then they run...so is there a surge or lack of surge during power up that causes the communication failure?
Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: FORDSBS on July 28, 2010, 10:24:03 AM Got it working. Hope it continues. Turned it on & off for last 20 hrs. & it keeps working.
Worked on 1 area @ a time so I'd know where it was. Started w/MPU. Pulled most things from MPU & cleaned everything. Dried off - put in & it worked. Don't know what for sure but it was on MPU. Thanks for all help & advice. Ford Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 28, 2010, 01:40:45 PM Probably a loosely seated eprom chip leg.
I had an error [62-0] on a machine. ("Bad Game Prom") I knew that there was nothing wrong with that prom. So I pulled it out and reseated it into the socket nice and easy. Then I turned the machine on and haven't had a problem with it since. Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: FORDSBS on July 28, 2010, 01:44:51 PM Don't know for sure what on MPU but I took all out and sprayed w/cleaner
Title: Re: General Reel Tilt Post by: stayouttadabunker on July 28, 2010, 01:50:49 PM I actually took an S+ motherboard and ran it under warm water in the kitchen sink.
I let it dry for a couple of days and ran my wife's high speed hair dryer on everything on the motherboard just to make sure no water remained trapped in the main connectors anywhere. I didn't see any visible liquid so I threw it into the machine and that works like a charm! Sometimes our babies just need a good cleaning! :72- |
