Title: buying a Universal Machine... Post by: jgastro29 on July 27, 2010, 07:26:54 PM I found someone selling a Unversal slot machine' Pirates of the Carib. I'd like to buy it as a present for my wifes B-day. I tried it a few times and it seemed to work but it had a few problems, hope someone can help. It would take up to 3 coins and all the lights seemed to work, when you pulled the lever the wheels spun but the buttons to stop each wheel required me to push the buttons up to 20 times before they stopped. It actually hit a larger jackpot and I couldn't get the music to stop, then there were more than a few other items that seemed to be not working properly. It was for sale for $300 which I thought was a bit high, considering it might need repair. Any info would help greatly, I'm hoping to finalize the sale on Sat morning.
Thanks Title: Re: buying a Universal Machine... Post by: Brianzz on July 27, 2010, 08:30:59 PM I'd personally pass on that one, sounds like one of those skill stop jobs that aren't really slot machines IMO. There are much better machines to be had for $300

There are much better machines to be had for $300 :212- You can get a much better machine for that price. Even if it is a skill stop you want. It all depends on the laws in your state as to what you can legally own. Most folks here have former U.S. casino slots. I personally do not know a thing about Universal skill stops so I can't help you with the problems on that machine. Title: Re: buying a Universal Machine... Post by: jgastro29 on July 27, 2010, 10:20:18 PM Thanks for the help! Im in the People's Republic of NJ, lots of laws and taxes. My wife is a big slot fan, esp the multi-line machines and I was going to take her to Atlantic City for her b-day but she needs surgery on her back so I was hoping to bring the casino to her. I was hoping to maybe get it and get it refurbed locally, shipping seems to be quite an issue.
Thanks again for the quick answers... Title: Re: buying a Universal Machine... Post by: reho33 on July 27, 2010, 10:49:48 PM It's a pachislo. You can get an autostop kit for it and it will give you the choice of playing in the normal fashion or having the reels stop automatically after a set amount of time. You can even put an IGT handle on the side and hook it up. Or you can just forgo the above and just but a real slot from one of the vendors above!

Most of the vendors on this site will ship to you if you have a DOJ on file, they're free and will get a slot shipped to your house Title: Re: buying a Universal Machine... Post by: Randy0777 on September 14, 2010, 06:46:22 AM As reho33 said, you can modify them, but its not really worth the trouble, and cost. It was just a pain getting it to take quarters :25-. For 300,I hope its one of the nicer ones...LCD,Stereo,etc. Only thing I like about them is you can carry it (75lbs) and if you lose the key,you can put your hand underneath and open it :96-
