Title: What do you put under your bottom ? Post by: DorothyMacaw on July 28, 2010, 02:00:38 AM My stands are covered in Formica and the machines slip and move whenever I open a door or close a door or sneeze. I know there are holes in the bottom so that you can bolt them down, but that doesn't appeal to me at the moment.
Do you have something under your machine to keep it from slipping or do you have it bolted down or do you just let it slip ? OR is there an option that I haven't thought of? - Dorothy Title: Re: What do you put under your bottom ? Hi Dorothy,Do you have something under your machine to keep it from slipping or do you have it bolted down or do you just let it slip ? OR is there an option that I haven't thought of? - Dorothy I always recommend using carriage bolts to secure the machine to the stand. To me this can be a safety issue where when left loose the possibility of the machine falling and hurting someone is greater. Left on the flat they are quite stable, but who knows when a friends children come over and start pulling on the arms. if it is in your mind to keep it unsecured, you may want to apply two sided tape such as carpet tape between the stand and the machine. This will prevent the slide. Thanks, Wayne Title: Re: What do you put under your bottom ? Post by: Yoeddy1 on July 28, 2010, 02:54:16 AM Dorothy,
Sheets of non-skid at your local Lowe's or Home Depot does a great job too. http://www.lowes.com/pl__4294856540_4294937087_ (http://www.lowes.com/pl__4294856540_4294937087_) Title: Re: What do you put under your bottom ? "Johnson & Johnson's Baby Powder" :5- But to answer your question. If you really don't want to use bolts...how about heavy duty Velcro pads? I've seen them hold people up against walls on some T.V. show....lol I don't really recommend this at all though... when the door is open and you lean on it, the machine WILL fall! I stand the though of a slot falling onto a kid....Please!! Properly install the machine!!! Title: Re: What do you put under your bottom ? Post by: DorothyMacaw on July 28, 2010, 02:42:48 PM Okay Mopar and Bunker. You have me convinced, I'll drill the stands and bolt the machines to them.
The stands are solid (no door) so I assume that drilling the stand inserting a heavy duty wall anchor and then putting a bolt into it should work. If there is a flaw in my thinking let me know. My tool drawer is getting opened more time in the past 2 days than the previous 2 months. - Dorothy Title: Re: What do you put under your bottom ? Post by: reho33 on July 28, 2010, 04:39:15 PM You need 1 3/4 anchor bolts (like the kind on sat dishes, with the square bottom (these fit right into the holes in the slot cabinet), put the bolts through and nuts attach from the bottom.

Post by: cowboygames on July 28, 2010, 04:47:16 PM And if the cabinet has no access to the inside and there are no existing holes in the top then the butterfly bolts should work fine. If there are existing holes they may already have a nut mounted on the inside and you just need the right screws

What kind of cabinet are you using that has no door? I can't imagine that this is a slot cabinet? Can you post a picture here of it? It may not be sturdy enough... Title: Re: What do you put under your bottom ? Post by: DorothyMacaw on July 28, 2010, 05:43:08 PM Oh, it is heap sturdy enough Bunker. I got a hernia moving it when it came. It weighs around 70 pounds. It was made by the company that sold me the machines. It kind of reminds me of "2001 A Space Odyssey". I can hear the music pounding in my head already .. Boom, boom ........ No, wait !! That's the theme from "Jaws" !!

Before you start drilling holes in the base to attach the machine. Make sure the front edge of the machine's base is aligned with the front of the black base. You want to get the machine as close to you as possible so your knees aren't banging on the base all the time. I'd look into installing a door on the front of the base so you can extract the coins that fall to the drop into the bucket below. I've seen some nice doors that guys have made with a lighted belly glass down there that looks kinda cool at night when it's all lit up! :89- Title: Re: What do you put under your bottom ? This is a carriage bolt, notice the square part on the shoulder, it fits the square holes in the base of the machine. With your stand it would be difficult to attach since you can't access the underside, unless you cut an access hole in the rear. The butterfly anchors would likely do as someone said. I have used screws to temporarrily attach machines in the past, however over time they could work loose. Bunker, I believe the velcro suit was David Letterman.
