Title: DBV-200 Dead
Post by: tjkeller on July 30, 2010, 02:58:23 AM
OK, so looks like I get to add to the DBV chronicles with a problem of my own!  :5-

So, I have a DBV-200 in an S+ machine that is not working. I had my machines "stored" for awhile
as I had to move earlier in the year and just recently got around to getting my games set up again.
All of them happily came back to life which is always a GOOD thing but I had ONE that DBV decided
to go:   :52-

I had not done any game changing or anything. All was the same as when they were shut down.
I figured maybe, somehow, after being shut down for several months that activation setting dropped
out so I popped the ol Set Chip in and found that no...setting was still on.

SOooo, I took the unit out and swapped it with another machine to see if it was just that unit.
Sure enough, the DBV-200 from a different machine fired right up and worked fine and the problem
one did not work on the other machine. So this tells me that there is a problem with this particular
unit.

When I plug her in, I do get the little red LED and a "click" but NO acceptance procedure/cycle. Just the
click and that's it. Manual says "Check for proper software usage/ID protocol" but given nothing has changed
and she has been working fine for the last ???? years, I don't know why there would be any issue here but
that said, HOW would I check that out anyway?

I know it's something within this unit cause the swap with the other DBV-200, also in an S+, worked fine
in either machine but this one did not work in either...just "click"

So, as a means to an end...is it boat anchor time  :95- or is there something I can do to get it going again?

THANKS!
