Title: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: eis_slots on August 03, 2010, 02:55:32 AM So I had a guy bring a S+ today for repair as it had several issues. Well in taking apart the machine I found the top glass and belly glass were made out of plexiglass. I can say this is the first I have seen this, I know most on here have been doing this longer, but is this a common thing or no?? :103-
Had the right IGT logo on it and I didnt catch it by looks till I started taking it apart. The name of the machine btw was Monsoon Madness. Like I said was just kinda curious on this as I never have seen or heard of this before, forgive me if it's a dumb post. :200- Title: Re: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: Foster on August 03, 2010, 03:09:06 AM if it plexiglass it is a reproduction kit from my experience
I believe that IGT only likes glass to be used by their vendors for belly, reel and award glass. I got taken by a dealer in ohio that sold a me a wild cherry reproduction kit for $300 in 2006. Title: Re: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: eis_slots on August 03, 2010, 03:11:10 AM Hmmm I'm in Ohio and thats where he said he bought it was here, but didnt say where in Ohio.
Title: Re: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: Foster on August 03, 2010, 03:23:48 AM its not in the IGT bible on here, I suspect it is a clone of another theme.
Can you give details on the theme. award glass pictures and reel strip pictures if you have access to the machine still. Title: Re: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: eis_slots on August 03, 2010, 03:32:40 AM Yea I'll take pics of it when I go in the shop tomorrow. I can tell it's a clone of Haywire from playing it. The machine I guess some how fell over and landed on it's top cap and man is it in bad shape needs a whole new top cap for it, this is the ruffest shape game I have had brought into me lol.
Title: Re: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: jay on August 03, 2010, 04:06:11 AM Monsoon Madness sounds like a Title wave clone.
IGT did not make Plexi Productions and I am pretty sure neither did the 'authorized" manufacturers of Sunkist nor Happ. In the past several of us had some of the more rare kits repo-ed but they have all been on glass also. The place that was doing it has stopped due to copyright issues. Sounds like a econo clone for sure..... I have heard of people putting a colored paper copy between two thin glass sheets just cause they could not get a particular theme otherwise. It is also possible that someone did this for use on a cruise ship to lower weight. Glass is heavy - if you think about 120 machines it adds up. Do you have the chip numbers ? any pictures. Title: Re: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: eis_slots on August 03, 2010, 01:51:04 PM I'll add pics and chip numbers here in a couple hours as I havent made it into the shop yet. I should have them up around 4.
Title: Re: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: eis_slots on August 03, 2010, 09:51:52 PM Ok sorry it took so long but here are the pics. I also have a correction I was wrong the Plexiglass doesnt say IGT I thought it did. The Reel chip is # SS 4081 and game chip# SP 1085. From what I was told its also a clone of Hurricane and they mainly were down south. The saying says "certain pays will go mad"

On the top payglass look under the "ANY ONE" at bottom left, I see C 19?? MIKOHN GAMING. :209- Title: Re: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: eis_slots on August 03, 2010, 11:54:11 PM yea it's 1996 for the copyright and your right on the maker. if you would here it play you would think it's haywire lol.
Title: Re: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: stayouttadabunker on August 04, 2010, 01:30:17 AM Do the paytable tests match the award glass?
I didn't know Mikohn used IGT SP chips...hmm... IGT allowed Mikohn to throw strips/glass into their machines? How did this ever happen? Title: Re: Something strange, well least I thought.... Post by: knagl on August 04, 2010, 02:25:20 AM Mikohn probably sold it as a retrofit kit, much like Sunkist Graphics does today. It's a clone game. Very cool graphics.

www.progressivegaming.net (http://www.progressivegaming.net) is redirected to IGT (who now own a majority of the assets). Here are a couple of links on the topic. http://www.slotshero.com/slots/machine/manufacturers/mikohn/ (http://www.slotshero.com/slots/machine/manufacturers/mikohn/) http://www.slotsguy.com/slots/manufacturers/mikohn/ (http://www.slotsguy.com/slots/manufacturers/mikohn/) http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/Mikohn-Gaming-Corporation-Company-History.html (http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/Mikohn-Gaming-Corporation-Company-History.html) http://www.igamingbusiness.com/content/progressive-gaming-international-liquidised (http://www.igamingbusiness.com/content/progressive-gaming-international-liquidised) I was unable to find a comprehensive list of games that Mikohn created. True, the site doesn't exist today, but you can step back in time thanks to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.mikohn.com It's not 100%, and you can click through some links on the site but not others, but you can browse parts of the old Mikohn site. :71- |
