Title: MVS MV-1A Board help
Post by: gizmodrake on August 03, 2010, 02:07:43 PM
Hi guy's, I have been reparing Jamma boards few months now as a hobby and I have come across my first faulty MV-1A board. The fault code I'm getting is this:

COLOUR RAM BANK0 ERROR

ADDRESS      WRITE    READ
00400000      5555      B255

Is this a LSPC IC fault? I am unable to find an LSPC IC on my board unless some of the writing has worn off.

I really appriciate your help!

Many thanks, Gavin

Ok I have now checked the board over and it looks as though it may be missing a surface mount cap that looks like it may have been knocked off the board. Is this the likely cause of the problem?

Nope, one of your color pallete RAMs died out and has random data in it. There are 6 surface mount 65256. The pallete RAM is 6264 RAMs. One of them has bade enables, most likely. Look for corrsion to them.

The LSPC: Line Sprite Picture Creator is the main grapics chip, usually LSPC-A0 for the earlier chipset. A1 or A2 wou,d be that int he later revisions.
