Title: Custom Wheel of Fortune Post by: devographics on August 07, 2010, 01:04:32 PM I'm making a custom Wheel of Fortune out of a CDS On the Money machine. I figured I would show the progress on here. The first is the
machine stripped down. I took the topper off and I'm just going to reinstall the candle on the machine. I already have the reel strips, belly glass and reel glass done just need to install them. I will post pictures of each piece after its installed, hopefully this week. Title: Re: Custom Wheel of Fortune Post by: devographics on August 07, 2010, 08:37:41 PM Here is some pics of the custom reel strips I made. I called the bonus round and the machine "Wheel of Fortune Triple Spin Bonus"
The reel strips are printed on my vinyl printer and then applied to a clear mylar for extra stiffness. I also clear coat the graphics to give them an extra gloss. Title: Re: Custom Wheel of Fortune Post by: slot monkey on August 07, 2010, 10:00:06 PM Those reel strips look really good.
Great job so far! Title: Re: Custom Wheel of Fortune Post by: PWRSTROKE on August 07, 2010, 10:16:32 PM I admire someome that alters etc. My thoughts on what you are doing there is I would pull the pictures etc. as you are in copywrite infrigement and lots of other charges. It is not worth the risk even though you mean well. That was just my thoughts--You do as you wish. Thanks B.
Title: Re: Custom Wheel of Fortune Post by: uniman on August 07, 2010, 10:25:48 PM Looks good!
Are you going to use the CDS bonus reel mechanism for the WOF reel? Sort of like the Price is Right Plinko game. Can't wait to see the finished mod. I guess I will just pull the whole post? We all Love this stuff here but want no trouble or want to see a member go down. Just my thoughts and it's ok to talk about your ambition here. I will pull the pictures, but I'm not sure how too? I guess I will just pull the whole post? Title: Re: Custom Wheel of Fortune Post by: tacman on August 07, 2010, 10:40:25 PM devographics, just go to your post and press modify. Then you should be able to uncheck your pics and remove them.
Dan (tacman) Title: Re: Custom Wheel of Fortune Post by: PWRSTROKE on August 07, 2010, 10:51:04 PM Devo, Here is the deal. I will make it plain and simple. If you show pictures of Orginal stuff you have one or two legs mayby to stand on as far as that theme goes. Altering and using that specific theme not to mention is bad mojo-- :60-. Later B.

That being said I think you made a wise choice. B.

Title: Re: Custom Wheel of Fortune Post by: jay on December 10, 2011, 03:42:55 PM If I build a look alike Ferrari in my garage. No one can touch me or suggest copyright infringement unless I begin to manufacture for resale.
Lots of Back-to-the-future delorians - are in existance. The basis of law for copyright is if you are: a. Damaging the brand (ie your cheap copy) deters people from purchasing. b. You have in someway denied profit to the intellectual property holder. (ie someone buys your copy vs a real one). c. You mispresent an orginal creation as the intellectual property of another (Ie using the Loui Viton logo on a plastic purse). With respect to Wheel of Fortune: This game is NOT sold its licensed for use. If you are in posession of parts that were either to be returned to the manufacture or reported as destroyed you are guilty of theft or in posession of stolen goods. With respect to your CDS hybrid - I say have at err'. Copying the glass (theme) and strips for personal use passes the copyright sniff test - as you have not harmed the brand in any way. This is unless you plan to start selling these to people. Even with the strips the number of symbols and such is not a direct copy as its needs to conforn to CDS standards. I cannot see any manufacturer wanting to spend time or money chasing the little guy over a non-commerical initative. There is no Return on Investment (ROI). IF they were to hunt you down it would be to offer you a job based on your initative and innovative qualities.
