Title: Mk 2.5 Low Voltage to CC-16
Post by: Worldwide Gaming on August 11, 2010, 03:45:14 PM
 :99-

I'm having some problems getting the CC-16 to work in a Mk. 2.5 machine - 24VDC is being supplied to the COD, but only 5VDC is coming out.  The 7812 Voltage Regulator in the COD tested bad, so I replaced.  That wasn't it...

The main PS is supplying 12VDC and 5VDC perfectly.

The manuals I've got don't include any schematics nor do they shed any light on what may be going on.

Has anyone run into this problem before?

Also - I tried running the machine with a mechanical coin comparitor but the COD boards did not register the passing of a coin...

Am under some time pressure on this one - any help would be truly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi

It needs the pulse from the comparator to enable the optic assembly. Never tried to repair the optic assemblies but recall them having a fairly high failure rate. The comparator harness connects to the assembly via two connectors - Make sure both are plugged in. Assuming you are tesing for 12v with door closed ?

Hi Ian!

Yes, testing with door closed.  With door open I get 4.8 to 5.1 VDC.  Same with door closed.

The harness for the comparitor has three wires with three separate connectors (not counting the one for the comparitor).  Two of them fit in COD 1, the other down to COD 2.

Would you happen to have a pic of how the wiring goes on the coin comp side/COD of the harness - after the DB25 connector part of the harness from the daughter board.

All the Robot tests work fine as well - including the solenoid for determining hopper or drop - but without the correct voltage to the CC-16, it'll never send the pulse to wake the COD's...

Thanks again!

Hi

Sorry I dont - Worked on those at a previous employer. If you are really in a bind try powering it directly from a 12v source inside the machine ?

I did end up tapping a separate 12V source to get them to function.  The original optics were bad - as were some of the replacements too!

Good idea - Thanks for the update.
