Title: Jerky Video In WMS Bluebird
Post by: Captain Hook on August 21, 2010, 05:48:15 PM
I have a WMS Bluebird Video Slot and I just installed the software for "ZEUS" in it.

The game seems to play fine but the video of the reels spinning is kind of herky jerk

The motion of the reels is not smooth like all the other games I have installed in it.

Also the counting up of the credits is not smooth either. I dont recall the video of this game acting like this when I played it in the Casino.

An ideas????

Are you running Ver 2000 BIOS and a 512Meg memory module?
If not, upgrade them. The memory module is the same as a notebook computer, about $70 or so.
See one of the vendors on here for the OFFICIAL WMS V2000 BIOS chip....

The machine counts up to 536K of system ram when it first comes on and I gave the numbers off of the Bios Chip to the guy I got the software from and he said it was OK.

herky jerky behavior was always an indication of memory issues on any computer, even slots. You may want to bump your memory up a little or you may just have some bad ram

Here is a picture of my board.
As you can see it is NOT the same as your picture. There appears to be a HeatSink over the memory.
How do I add memory and also how do I get this board out of the machine??
The tray the board is mounted to appears to be held on by some screws in slotted holes. I loosened then nuts and tried to slide this assembly up and out
but it didnt seem to want to move. I didnt try real hard because I wasnt sure and didnt want to break anything.

You can put all the new memory you want on that board and it won't help at all, your cards are fine, you have the correct Bios, and O/S, the problem is someone has put a CPU (the small board on the CPU) off of a Bally Alpha board on your WMS Bluebird 1 CPU, this was because they are way cheaper and work with the older smaller memory games but not the newer games the mhz is not the same, and you can forget about putting Survivor in it as well, I would go back to where you bought your machine and get a different board, in my opinion it is a cheap boogie rigged half ass repair, the heat sink is the slam dunk evidence, and the Ram (Cache) is under that heat sink (it is screwed down) (no jumpies, smileys, clappies or scratchies) just the TRUTH

Thanks Jim

Well I guess that explains a couple things.

I will get in contact with the guy I got the machine from as soon as he gets back in town.

He is out of the country on business right now.

Thanks for all your help.

PS do you have what I need and how much would it be if I cant get this guy to deal with it??

Thanks again

I would try your supplier of the game, he knows what this is about I am sure and won't be a shock, I have the parts new or used right now, but aren't cheap and I would rather not get involved

My Guess is if its a vendor listed here then either they didn't know or they will make it right.

The problem with substituting from another platform is that the current software may work fine, but when you change to a more demanding software set the issue shows up.  Unless the game was sold as is, then I'm sure the vendor will replace it with the correct one.

Have you tried re-installing the original game to see if the reels act better?
I'm only guessing when I say that perhaps the "Zeus" game wasn't made for your board?

Perhaps you should go back a few messages and reread what Jim at Blueridge has to say about it.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the Dealer I bought the Bluebird made good on fixing the problem I was having with the Jerky Video.

We ended up replacing the Processor Board with an Original WMS part which was MUCH FASTER and all the problems went away.

Thanks again

Glad that your issue was solved, and K+ again for doing the right thing and giving the seller a chance to make things good for you!
