Title: Need help with what ss prom i need
Post by: onesell on November 12, 2008, 02:21:59 PM
Hi everyone i have a Triple Red White And Blue 3 coin multiplier and have just put SS7553 in it. This is meant to payout 90.045% and be a 3 coin however when i turn the machine on it is a 2 coin multiplier. I got my information on what version to use from,

http://www.newlifegames.net/igtbible/IGT%203CM/Game%20Library%20-%20S-Plus%20-%20Triple%20Red,%20White%20&%20Blue%20(3%20Coin%20Mul.htm (http://www.newlifegames.net/igtbible/IGT%203CM/Game%20Library%20-%20S-Plus%20-%20Triple%20Red,%20White%20&%20Blue%20(3%20Coin%20Mul.htm)

can anyone give me a clue on the number of the correct prom as i don't have the SS0286 as that would also give me the % i was wanting too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Richard.

I am sure that a TYPE 0 SP chip such as SP1271 would work for your game.
It's required however to have a 10MHz MPU board and a SET088 set chip to enable the DBV.

In the end, the SS7553 game uses just about any TYPE 0    SPchip.

If your MPU board is a 16MHz board, then I would recommend an SP1272.
The SP1272 is also a TYPE 0  SPchip.

The way to tell whether your board is 10MHZ or 16MHz is: the 10MHZ has a volume knob on the board.
This knob is usually small, round, blue and made of plastic.
The 10MHz boards usually have dipswitches on them.

The 16MHz boards dont have knobs, nor do they have dipswitches.

ADD>>I beleive the % comes from SS7553 chip, changing the SP chip does not change your %.

SS7553 is a listed in the Chip book as a Triple Red, White & Blue.

it is under Accounting, Version

The chip unless it is an original IGT chip may have been mislabeled.

The following are the SS #s
8428   340B   75.167 (75.004)   TRIPLE RED WHITE & BLUE   3 COIN MULTIPLIER
8427   340B   80.167 (80.004)   TRIPLE RED WHITE & BLUE   3 COIN MULTIPLIER
7555   340B   85.073 (84.910)   TRIPLE RED WHITE & BLUE   3 COIN MULTIPLIER
7554   340B   87.534 (87.371)   TRIPLE RED WHITE & BLUE   3 COIN MULTIPLIER
7553   340B   90.045 (89.882)   TRIPLE RED WHITE & BLUE   3 COIN MULTIPLIER
7552   340B   92.487 (92.324)   TRIPLE RED WHITE & BLUE   3 COIN MULTIPLIER
7551   340B   94.991 (94.828)   TRIPLE RED WHITE & BLUE   3 COIN MULTIPLIER
7550   340B   96.203 (96.041)   TRIPLE RED WHITE & BLUE   3 COIN MULTIPLIER
7549   340B   97.425 (97.262)   TRIPLE RED WHITE & BLUE   3 COIN MULTIPLIER

I doubt your eprom is the correct one.  Do you have a programmer?  If so then read the eprom and look for the number  (see pic).
with the machine on you can also check the SS number in the self tests.

Thanks,
Wayne

This is meant to payout 90.045% and be a 3 coin however when i turn the machine on it is a 2 coin multiplier.

I presume you're saying that the machine only accepts two coins and won't take any more when you try to put a third coin in, right?  I would agree with the others that it sounds like the chip you put in is labeled wrong.

Also, is this an S+ machine?  If so, this topic should probably be moved to the S+ section.   :71-

Hi all thanks for your replies it is much appreciated

first thing first the comment about the SP chip could have some mileage in it I'm not sure that it is the right one thinking about it I will check it in the morning.

The chip is an original IGT chip but I do have a programme and will check the version in the morning

Although I know that the red white and blue is an S+ game it is in an S2000 so that was why I put the post in here not sure if that was the correct thing sorry if it wasn't

Once again thanks very much to the members of this site you are fantastic i'm sure i'm not the only one who thinks so.

To use a SS chips in a S-2000 use SB 1000 and the SS chip must be a 120ns speed or faster eprom, also I am sure since it is installed correctly with the chip starting away from the notch end of the socket (closest to the Version Chip) since working but mentioned for future searches

Ohhhhhh THAT"S why!
You put a S+ (SS7553) chip in a bloody S2000????? WHY???? :72- :72-

That totally explains why I NEVER saw or heard of the SS0286.
I searched high and low in my SS and SP lists and could NOT find it. :103-
 I never owned a S2000...(though I'd think I'd like one)...I only fool around with S+'s.

Now I know why.... :72- :97- :72- :97-  :25- :25- :30- :30- :37- :8-

Good morning all i have just checked the SS chip in my reader and it is definitely the correct chip. I realised when i looked at it this morning that it doesn't have the SP chip i never noticed that and that it is an SB100010 that i have got in it. I did have a few SB chips but i gave some away a few months ago the only other SB chips i have available to me at the moment are SB100005 and SB100287 the latter i assume isn't correct as it doesn't have the 1000 in there is any of these the correct one and if not what do i need and for future reference is there a way of working out which one a machine should have.

Unfortunately i didn't put the game in the S2000 it is how it was when i got it but it had a couple of faults and has sat there for a few months doing nothing i had used the board in another machine and have got the chips mixed up i think but i have sorted the faults out got the machine working and then noticed this. I should have mentioned in the first post that it was in an S2000 sorry for the confusion.

Those Base chips you have are theme specific base chips, they have virtual reel stops, physical reel stops and pay table and other features for a particular game (number of coins, Buy a pay, haywire feature, nudge, etc)
They do not depend on a S+ (SS) reel chip to work.
The base chip you have installed is a 2 coin multiplier game.
S2000 Base chips also contain 5 or so payback percentages. You can change payback without having to get a different base chip. To do this though you do need a key chip.

The exception is a SB001000, which is a base chip that uses a S+ (SS) Reel chip for that information.

Thats great foster you have answered my next question which was going to be what does this chip do. I wouldn't mind all this but I'm sure i gave 3 of the SB001000's away a couple of months ago typical isn't it i never realised that one was from this machine.

Anyway thankyou to everone who has replied as soon as i get the right SB chip i will let you all know if it has solved the problem.

On another note, I visited Bridlington back in 1978 as a young lad, had a great time playing all of the different games. Probably my first real gambling experience.

Thanks,

The correct SB chip for 3 Coin Triple RWB is SB100165, then you have all the paytables

Hi everyone just to let you all know that i have got it sorted i managed to get one of my original chips back. The moral of the story don't give something away unless you are sure you don't need it.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped with this you really are special people to take the time to help people like you do.
