Hey Barry, when I change out this Titanic on a game swap I will send you the strips. I have another set. Been thinking about throwing the Phantom in, had the kit for about 5 months and have been too lazy to change it out.

Dan, Cool.  Maybey the old girl can sail again here as I have it off-line rite now.  Not that there is anything wrong with it but I had to rob it's slot stand for others with higher priority.  I also expect to be getting some more factory -(modern) black laquer slot stands in diff. heights and shapes-etc. soon.  These are built for igt to service the casinos- not home-made.  Bull-nose and square is the general pick and high-boy or low depending on needs.

I believe Chainsaws and Toasters, Titanic and Phantom are not backlit supported. Cigar maybe another. Idesign would know about the Cigar.

Yeah, I think you're right. The strips I do have for Titanic and Phantom are not backlit. Been thinking about a Jeannie so I threw that title in, but have gotten a NO from a few sources.

I was looking to see if Phantom of the Opera supports backlit reels. I have a machine with this theme and backlit reels installed. If it won't support the reels I'll change to less expensive reels. Thanks for the input.

PWRSTROKE,
When they come in, could you post us some pics of them?
I'm thinking of getting one or perhaps build a copy.

Was you talking about titanic?.  I already have one and the reel strips are not that nice.  They made two diff. versions of that game in 3-reel s-2000.  Both had diff. glass and reel strips (symbols on strips).

The belly glass for Titanic comes with a floating or sinking ship.  The reel strips have either deck chairs or life preserves to go with the belly glass.  Award glass would obviously have to match up with the strips.  The odd thing about it is that IGT made backlit strips for this game but the SB chip for it does not support backlighting.

One was a Buy a Pay with the Deck Chairs (straight ship on belly) and a Multiplier with the Life Preservers with sinking ship, 2X 3x Multiplier symbols in Life Preservers with SB 100003 (3 Coin) and is a known original factory assembled game made in 11/98 and had paper strips (still have but are toast)

Well, I guess the last one you described is the one I have.  It has paper strips with the 2,3x life preservers .  says kodac pro on back of strips.  They are dull looking strips. I have the floating boat or sinking belly glasses.

Hi,

I am hoping this is an easy one-  I need to buy some replacement bulbs for my S2000 backlit reels.  I believe I read on this forum that it is a Xenon #359.  But, my question is this:  Are there TWO different bulbs that IGT uses for the backlit reels?  The ones in my machine light up as a "normal" color light while I have noticed, at the casino, that some of them light up as a true, bright white.  Am I seeing this right?  If so, can I use more than one type of bulb in my machine?  Again, if so, where can I get the "true" white ones?

Thanks!

Hello!

Do you know if the machines you saw with the "true" white were IGT S2000 machines?  I have seen other brand machine like this, but not any IGT S2000 machines.  I believe the "true" white is created by LED backlights - but from the conversations on this forum, a S2000 machine is not able to use LEDs for the backlighting....

The only thing I am pretty sure on is the IGT S2000s with the reels of more than 3.

The LED bulbs themselves need to have a ray with a wide arc to project evenly spaced lighting...
LED's are too focused from the end of the bulb to the back of the strip.
The LED can be made to work if you soldered a resistor to the bulb and the LED would be very bright...
but the tunnel of light would only look like a bright, white dot behind the strips....
way too close to the paper...they wouldn't fully light the entire symbol I believe.
I HAVE heard of LEDs with a wider arc of light...
and I may try to install some LED's on set of regular S+ reels somehow , to see what effect they may have on S+ strips.
Using some old strips I don't care about of course.
They might throw off an interesting visual... :71- :89-

I've noticed some of the newer barcrest/igt games have the super white back lights in them. The Reel Hot poker slots come to mind right off the top of my head.

A lot of that "brightness" might have a lot to do with how much transparency the backing of the strips have...? :103-
I could imagine hardly any light at all coming through the regular, thick S+ strips.... :60-

After Brianzz mentioned it, I have seen it on the Barcrest's - Pinball to be exact.  It's such a white light, it's almost blueish.  I would love to install those.

Many of the newer 5 reel S-2000 Games have LED backlighting, and newer platforms do as well, even true 4 reel games do, you can put certain LED bulbs in the regular S2K but they stay lit up brighter, so the reels are always lit, but when they hit they go off bright, I personally don't care for this, the newer 5 reel stuff that is LED has a different controller and harness set up, there are many newer 3 reel games that have the LED reels and look good, without great expense, I would just stick with the XE-359 or you can try some 3-4 cluster LED's and see if you like, I have some pics at shop of this, but you will have to try a few different bulbs to see if you like the line always lit

Chainsaws and Toasters yes, Cigar yes, Phantom no, Titanic no

Jeff,

Are you sure about the Chainsaws & Toasters??? Jim has never seen them in backlit, and my kit I just got has regular strips. I thought I had seen that someone said yes at on time, and I found this old post.  If yes, do you have an extra set just collecting dust available? :103- :99-

CH, is that the SB you have with your kit? Have you tried it without reel strips to see if the lights activate on a payline? Does anyone know if backlit enabled SB chips will error if used in a non-backlit machine?

 Dan (tacman)

There would be no error for not having backlit reels, some of the early SB's just didn't have backlit capabilities, before year 2000 there were no backlit reels, and Vision/Vision Readys were in service in late 97

Or they stopped making paper backed strips and the old ones still supported were just done up as backlit, do you think the guys at the print company know what a SB is?
