Title: FYI: Rechargeable Battery Removal on 502 board Post by: Foster on August 28, 2010, 03:28:28 AM I do not know if this is an issue other versions.
I did the removal and the board started doing wierd things. Machine would be ready to play and the VFD would go blank and the Player button lamps would go off. If the machine was in the process of spinning the reels. I would get a General Reel Tilt that would be hard to get to clear. I did notice the VFD would show Door B Closure. even though door had not been recently opened or closed. I decided to look at where the battery is soldered to the board. The Positive Pole is soldered in 2 places. IF you do not want to have an issue after removing it. Either leave enough of the battery terminal in place to keep the 2 positive solder pads jumpered or remove and solder a short jumper between the 2 positive solder pads. Once I jumpered it the problems went away. I thought I had issues with a harness or the I/O cards. That removing the battery triggered a failure someplace. I am glad it was that simple. |
