Title: PE non plus Deuces Wild is back!
Post by: videoporker on November 13, 2008, 04:29:24 PM
It's been a while since I was here, I guess a lot has changed. A few years ago this site really helped me get the PE working and I am gratefull for that.

I guess most all the old forum posts are gone!! Tragedy, there was so much good information in there.

I'm looking to replace the battery on the PE(non plus) machine. I haven't looked yet but I think it's soldered in.
Is there a special procedure for replacing?
Is it a rechargeable battery or just a regular one?
Is there a battery holder that can be soldered in it's place to make changing easier next time?

Thanks

The batteries are not rechargeable.
Speaking for a PE+ and S+ Funny enough I find that the batteries last practically forever in a machine that is on. So there might be some circuitry that bypasses the battery whilest it has power, I also find the batteries last a long time when the board is removed from the machine. I had my units in storage for more than a year. I had pulled all the boards because when I shipped the machines with my other household posessions I figured I could always just claim they were non functional parts units used for decoration. (no accounting for taste).
I find the batteries get eaten when the machine is off and the board is in the machine, perhaps because the CMOS draws on it ?

I have seen people replace the 3.6v battery with a simple radio-shack battery holder (3 x 1.5v).

If you can find a single AA battery holder and AA sized 3.6V lithium that is also a good choice. They are expensive. but I doubt you will need another one for a long long time.

I went the Radioshaft route and put a regular battery holder in.
Works fine and in the first half hours play I HIT 4 DEUCES!
