Title: Well DUH!!!... but a good thing.
Post by: rickh on August 31, 2010, 03:57:53 AM
Since it got hot, no one has been in the garage playing the slot machine.... now that we cooled down to 99 degrees, I worked in the garage with the swamper on and fired it up. I would clean a little, then have a smoke and play a little.... by the end of the day, I had around 900 credits on it. Tonite I was out there putting the bike away and figured to have a cigar and play it.... The only things not working right have been the pull handle and the hopper..... handle doesnt always pull, and the hopper would jam up. I go to hit the "one coin" button twice to test the handle and hit the "cash/credit" button instead... dammit, coins are dropping and its gonna jam. As it turned out, it fed most of the coins out of the hopper, I opened and refilled it and closed the door and it spit out the rest..... without jamming. So, I fed it 2 tokens to test the handle and it worked fine.

Maybe this machine just needed worked/played. All the fixes you guys helped me with are still 100%

Yes those would be definite collectors items. Anything from the pre-embargo days with the authentic stamps are in demand. I like my cubans, have a few left over from trips to the Bahamas and St. Martin. Have a few that have been aging in my humidor since 2004. Smoked one a few weeks back in celebration of getting my proslot back on line for the warden :) The cigar and a good single malt was pure heaven. My every day cigar varies from the Onyx reserve to a Rockey Patel summer 2009 vintage. Course there are other favorites too. My grandfather smoked a pipe everyday for 96 years. Am pretty sure that the pipe had nothing to do with his death :) My wifes uncle was 94 and he and I smoked cigars together all the time. I just live by the following addage:

There are 2 dates on a tomstone
And we all know what they mean

but what matters most in life
Is what you do with the time
Represented by the dash in between

Years ago, I was in one of those cigar clubs.... they would ship you a variety each month.... some good ones, some that sucked.

In the Army, I was on duty one nite at the CO's office.... watching the phone in case it rang... some officer showed up in the middle of the night with a bundle of cigars for the capt, for me to make sure he got them. I said sure.... he told me how many were in the bundle and that they wouldnt care if I took one. I did help myself and it was a cuban, still fresh and wet, I spent most of the night relighting it. When the capt got in, he got on my ass about smoking in his office before I could give him the bundle. Once I gave it to him, he handed me another one and we sat and smoked them over coffee.

When in Canada on a bike trip, I bought one at a tourist trap... $35 Canadian for it! It was no better than a White Owl, I shoulda saved my fake money.

I rarely go to Canada for cigars. I wait til I'm on my vacations and scout out thhe nearest SA Habanos dealer so i am pretty sure they are authentic. But I've had some bad cubans and some good cubans. In the end it's all about taste and what you enjoy. I have found 1.00 cigars that were better then some of the 10.00 ones. All ya gotta do is smokem if ya gottem :)

The best thing about cigars... not many like them so non-smokers stay away from ya. Also, not many people bum one from you, unless they are cigar smokers :)

I was down in Key West about 20 years ago on a sailing trip and had to watch this
guy for a few minutes sitting in a chair hand rolling a cuban cigar on a wood box.
His palms were black from the nicotine and tar.
My step-father bought a couple and smoked them after racing.
He said they were the best cigars he ever had in his life. :89-

I realize that cigars and pipes taste good to the person smoking them, but face it, the smoke stinks to those who aren't actually doing the smoking, and the smoke from them is so heavy that it quickly settles onto and into everything in your house unless you smoke outside.

Cigarette smoke isn't as bad, but cigarette smokers smoke so many cigarettes a day that the end result is the same. That's why so many people who list used items for sale specify that the items come from a non-smoking home; it's important to many buyers.

I've known several friends who smoked who wouldn't smoke in their own homes. They'd step outside and smoke on the patio to keep their home and belongings clean. I always thought that that was a smart decision on their part.

I"m not knocking anyone for smoking a good cigar or pipe, I'm just saying that it's never the same for those standing nearby, and the stale smell that gets embedded in the furniture is unpleasant to everyone sooner or later if the activity is done indoors.

Okay, all you smokers can bash me now. :200- But I have tried both cigars and pipes, and I understand the appeal to the person doing the smoking.

I've never tasted a Cuban, but I would  try one if I had the opportunity  :89- -- outside, of course. :30- :72- :72-

No bashing needed Stat!!! I understand all about teh smoke issue. That is why I stay away from people when I do enjoy my cigar. I know it is my choice to enjoy a good ccigar but that doesn;t mean I have to pollute everones air. I am always out and away from everyone at family outings weddings etc.. No wonder they think I am stand offish...lol And here I am trying to protect them from my bad habit..lol.. Course on the golf course it is a different story :)

I've always smoked outside, it only sucks in the middle of summer and middle of winter  :25-

But it is fun to get a machine from a casino that's full of smoke and nicotine to stink your house up for a week

"Lazy Soldier Makes Fine Target." would be the army version.
"Lord, Save Me From Truman!" was the GOP-leaning version...
"Loose Sweaters Mean Floppy T _ ts" would be the R-rated version...  :200-

now grant you these came from the COPLEY PLAZA HOTEL IN BOSTON MASS.

where my grandfather  was a top man until he retired in 1942 lol the box has custom tags 1910

.20-cents was big bucks back in 1910   :131- :131- :131- :131-

second picture says copley plaza hotel my mahogny cigar boxes >>>much larger <<are in my safe that i lost the key and combo lol

I too smoke outside, have since moving to AZ so as not to destroy the walls and furniture. I also watch whom I am around when in public, thats my consideration of people.... I dont need "laws" to make me be considerate. Now, I do enjoy running the Harley thru "no smoking" towns with a cigar hanging outta my mouth :)

I used to do that, too, until I got tired of ashes blowing in my eyes... :30-  Of course, that was back before no smoking towns and even before helmet laws... :79-

God I'm old!  :208- :208- :208-

It aint bad here in AZ yet... while I worked in San Diego, towns were banning smoking left and right... so I would enjoy smoking and hoping to get stopped or sneared at...
