Title: Question on game chip %
Post by: rickh on September 08, 2010, 05:20:56 PM
My wife asked me that if our slot machine randomly picks which reels to stop and when, what difference is in the different % chips. I tried to BS my way thru the question, but it didnt work..... mostly cuz I dont know :)

Any input? Mine is the "stock" chip but I was offered an 85% one, I think. Does that mean the house gets 85% compared to 97%?

so, for house use.... my house....and using tokens, I am better off with the higher %? Goal is for people(my wife) to win more.

Correct.  The player get's the high payout.  Your wife will like the 97% better then 85%.

Well, its cooling off now in AZ... so she will be in the garage playing more soon. Too hot out there now for her. I like to let her play a while, losing.... then grab a handful of tokens and "show her how to win". I am always surprised when it works and pisses her off. I will rattle up a few hundred credits then say "here ya go,, burn those off". She does.... hahahaha

At my house it's the other way. Every time my wife goes on a machine she hit's. We both loved the casino. We went to Atlantic City once a month. Then in 95 she became disabled and can't get to go. That's how I got involved in slot's for her to play @ home.

thats how I got this machine.... disabled older lady stuck at home, so they spend like $600 for this machine about 4 years back. It quit working and they called a local slot place and his estimate without looking at it was somewhere over $200.... so, I offered $200 to take it off their hands and I got it.... spent about $25 for parts and a few days bugging this website and we have a good machine.

My grandkids like it more than anyone here.... they see a cherry show up anywhere and hoot and hollar.

For most games (but not all) the difference between the lower and higher paying chips is found in the lower and mid-level payouts. Simply put, the higher paying chips have slightly more lower and mid-level payouts. The top prize odds usually don't change.

With IGT reel games, I've found that in many cases the higher paying chips often have a few more of the lower payouts (like mixed bars), and they shift some of the lower mid-level payouts (like single and even double bars) to the upper mid-level payouts (like double and triple bars). This is by no means a hard and fast rule.

There are some games that have different odds for the top prizes as well. Oddly, in some cases, it's the lower paying chip that has better odds of hitting the top prize, but at the expense of more smaller prizes.

Changing the payouts on a game design is a subtle massage, not a rip and gut affair. For standard three-reel slots, it only takes a few minor changes to make all the difference in the math.

Hope that helps.

Wow I missed this page of replies when I added mine, but it sure seems appropriate...

Lets take a vote... The payment for my "BILL" should be to send a higher percentage chip to Rick if I can find one in my chiip collection!

Seriously Rick, Let me know what your current chip and game theme is, and I will see if I have a higher percentage chip that I can send to you, just PM me your address.

Consider it a payment from the victim assistance fund for those who get thread hijacked!!! :89- :71- :89-

Ahh.. triple bonanza or one of the clones.. one of my favorite games

there's a list of the higher paying chips for your game

Title: Re: Question on game chip %

so mine is a 92% and a 98% would give us more wins.... theoretically?

Title: Re: Question on game chip %
Post by: Brianzz on September 09, 2010, 08:53:01 PM
If you'll compare the 2 hits columns on these 2 par sheets.. one for your game and one for the 98% game you'll find there will be considerably more any bar hits, any bar with triple, & single bar wins.. yet you'll get less triple bar, triple with the triple bars and 2 triples and double bar hits.

So you sacrifice a higher win or two for more lower wins.

The highest paying chip has fewer blanks, which is typical.

These two have done the opposite of what I described back in reply #9.

They removed two triple bars and two blanks from the middle reel and replaced them with double bars.
They changed one blank to a single bar on reels one and three.

That's all it took to raise it over 5½%  (5.545).
