Title: won't clear self test
Post by: rjpohl on November 15, 2008, 10:47:24 PM
The S2000 super spin was working great.  I left it on and while not playing and I heard the BV cycle over and over.  When I looked at the display it would read "Display passes self test"  while the display is lite the BV is cycling.  after 5 or 6 cycles the memory test begins then the display has the Nexplex link is down or it will say Call Attendant.  I can't enter the menus with the test button.  If I leave it alone it will just go back through the how cycle again and again.

Could this be the battery or does it need a full ramclear??

thanks
Bob

Check every connector in the machine to make sure they are fully connected and MPU is fully seated.
I would not try a full ram clear yet,  because it may or may not work.
I do not think you need to worry about the player switches or coin acceptor connections.

I know of your issue had same thing happen to my S2000 as soon as I received it.
It took me a week or longer to get mine to start up fully.
Mine did get a ride in the back of semi for 500 miles or so.
I tried the ram clear many times, did not solve it.
you can try it.

Also I have heard the Power Supply could be the issue.
It may just need to be reseated
It is located behind the reels.

It's working but I'm really not sure what the problem was.  I tried a different board, it would at least cycle and the display worked but always ended on CALL ATTENDANT.  I put the original board back in, display wouldn't light up, I pulled the board out, with power on, reset it and it went through the initialisation and all is fine for now.
Could pulling the board out under power correct problems?????

Please never remove a circuit board with power on.
You might let the magic smoke out.  :98- :98-

Especially the S2000.
